Great holmertz 2019-04-13 7:04

Hello Kasia,
A very proud looking rickshaw puller, or maybe he was just amazed at having a Westerner as his client. I have only used a hand-pulled rickshaw a couple of times in Calcutta, but didn't like it. It made me feel like a colonial upper class twit, but the locals didn't seem to have any such feelings. Now I think there are very few of them left.
There's a nice lady in blue in the WS, and a tori in red is always welcome.
Best wishes,

Default To holmertz: Rickshaws

Thank you for your comments Gert!
I didn't ride this rickshaw, I just saw him and he was kind enough to stop to pose for me for a few seconds. Don't know why he was on the move without a client, maybe on his way back to the "rickshaw rank".
I've ridden bicycle rickshaws and it used to make me feel awkward (as I ride a bike as part of my daily commute and if feels like an abuse of the driver because I know it's hard enough without another person in tow ) but I have mixed feelings after my trip to Bangladesh as I spent some time watching ad pondering the profession of rickshaw drivers. I'll post something about this sometime...
Best wishes
