Default trekking in Ladakh

I'm planning a few months in and around Ladakh next summer and am trying to find info on trekking. I really want to visit spectacular mountains in a remote and untouristy area, and dont mind a long and fairly hard walk. If anyone has done a trek like this in any area between Manali and Leh (not kashmir obviously), I would love to hear your experiences, they will be worth much more than route despcriptions in a guide book. Thanks

Lucky you..
I wish I could go back trekking there.
You have so much choice... It would be very long to tell you witch one to do. I am including some links below, but once there , in manali, or Leh you'll be able to find people to go with you if you don't want to do it yourself. You just need the equipment ...

trekking to ladakh

trekking to Ladakh in french

I did a few of those, and one thing for sure... It's great. The first time I went there to trek was in 1894... unbelievable experience..
Good luck.

Yes, lucky me
I realize theres tons of choice, I have guide books etc and been to Ladakh before - 10 years ago I did the Darcha-Padum trek which was magnificent - and it is precisely because there is so much choice that I am having difficulty working out some possible routes.
Thanks for the links (my french is quite bad though) I will check it out at length.
Planning a trip is half the fun..nearly

you could also contact vijay (ttmountainman)
he practically lives in ladakh. he used to be a professional car rally driver and now he organises indian's biggest mountain car rallies between manali and leh every year. so he knows almost eevry place between manali and leh and even beyond tis route.
he could be of great help
take care :)

thanks for the tip Sohrab
I will contact vijay ttmountain sometime, when I have got a better idea of what is possible given the various constraints.
the main trouble is there are so many great places to go...
gradually I am narrowing it down, checking out the various books around.
Theres not much that I can find on many of the places I'm interested in going,
trekking in nun/kun area, kinnaur etc. probably i need to look harder.
thanks for your help
