Another image from Anjo Tanabata Festival (Star Festiva)
Awa Dance started beyond sunset. Dancers from Tokai area, Aichi, Shizuoka, Mie and Gifu. More than 30 dancers is in each groups. It was quite big group.
Each groups explained differences from the original Awa Dance before they danced, its originaly from Tokushima. Also explained what the choreography express.
Two dancers in the image is expressing 'Kiteflying'. The dancer on left plays as a kite, other on right tries to control the kite. The dance was so powerful and they seemed like kiteflying in the strong wing. The kite catched strong wind and sometimes pulled the kite player. He seemed to have difficulties to hold the kite string. It was very interesting dance. |
