The Khmer in Vietnam
The Mekong Delta provinces Tra Vinh and Soc Trang are are home to most of Vietnam's Khmer, or 'ethnic Cambodians'. Both of these rural provinces make excellent places to visit.
The whole Mekong Delta area used to be Khmer territory before the Viet moved south in the early 17th century and there are still quite a number of Khmer people living there.
Not only are the Khmer physically distinguishable from their Viet compatriots, they also practice a different kind of buddhism: Theravada, like e.g. Thailand, instead of Mahayana, which is practiced by the Viet majority.

This picture shows Hang Pagoda, a Khmer pagoda a couple of kilometers south of Tra Vinh town. The temple's main claim to fame is its enormous colony of storks (second in the country), but we mainly appreciated its quiet and its unpretentious, but colourful beauty.
In the main building behind the temple there is an interesting exhibtion of pictures on the temple's history, including pictures of when it was bombed during the American War. Today the temple is also a center for woodwork art.
The friendly residents monks make this an enjoyable place to visit.

well capture for the architecture and its surrounding present daily life of khmer temple in Vietnam quite clearly.very good sharpness and clarity with nice colors made this image attractive :)
