Hi Luko
On the one hand its nice seeing you around (although I must say that I am not around that often lately),
on the other hand I don't get it, you normally like to include people in your photos, but if you don't thats cool, however I still don't get it, the exposure is kind of dark and the photo kind of flat, way beneith your recongized talent.
Cheers
Daniel
I think its a nice photo, is better than most photos currently being posted on TE, but I feel its well below your standard Luko.
I can certainly see what you saw in the image with the red house standing out from the greenery, but I do tend to agree with Daniel in saying that I don't quite get what you see in the shot that I'm missing.

hi luko,
fans can be very unforgiving species ;o) ... lot of lurkers, not many words except some "what? what? what's he up to now?" and that's that. i for one believe change is good and you must do what YOU feel in the first place, not what others expect from you (that's their problem anyway, not yours). i do that constantly, but then again i'm not a TE big name, nor have i impressed constantly around here - luckily because that makes me free to do as i well please and even fool around sometimes (photographically speaking, of course)
architecture? ok, architecture it is. as with most landscape/urbanscape sights reduction to 700-750px makes no justice to the original views. so i'm sure the "living thing" was really impressive, as the red light shows it. but i would have prefered though some more details in the dark foreground.

ps: just saw your "andalucian way" on pbase - it looks great

Hi Luko
I know well these hills and those impressive manors built along them.
The light in Sintra can be very tricky there and I like Your approach to it here like a selective focus but this time playing with the light settings you only wanted to show exactly what you show and nothing else around, so here it is the manor glowing in the middle of darkness.
Say that it's dark around it is indeed but that was the purpose, to show the glowing house so why go for different settings and loose this very special glow?
I think you've done very well and it's refreshing to see different approachs than usual to the beautiful Sintra hills.
Well done.
Cheers.

Hi Luko,
This shot is so gothic just with those three colours of black, deep blue and blood red. Its amazing how the light just illuminates that house and nothing else. Just missing some bats flying in the sky ;o)

Luko,
recently I had a problem deciding how to present my
"Paraíso Azul e Verde" where I made a compromise
by artificially lightening the whole scene, thinking too
much of how it's gonna be accepted here on TE, as the original
shows the blue/green water quite dark due to low-setting
sun and majority of people here would think the photo was
underexposed (where actually it wasn't!).
Therefore, I'm glad you remained truthful to your photography
and had balls to upload this one and wit to defend it
(for the good of this website/community, as there's way
too much of a cliché going on - apart from a handful of
members who venture into 'out of ordinary').
Having visited Sintra recently I perfectly understand
what you're saying... and it's not only Sintra but many
other places (few of which I visited and I suppose there
are many more as I haven't visited much during my recent
visit to Portugal).
I think the case with this photo as well is that it's
'out of' ur usual 'repertoire' shown here on TE. For me,
there are quite enough of details in shadows (hints of
greenery and its shape) and if you were to temper with
light in the sense of increasing the luminosity, the
photo would get ruined and details of houses surrounding
this one might be distracting (but that's different cattle
of fish, anyway).
I think the deep warm sunlight resting on the façade is
great, especially in conjunction with the evening-blue
sky.
I don't think your point here was to upload and say:
"Hey guys, look what a marvellous photo I've taken" - but
rather something like "Look guys what you're missing while
focusing on elementary rules and taking mediocre
snaps!" (no offences, please).
Maybe I'm wrong, but I appreciate this post and wish
more members pay attention not only what lies in front
of their eyes and it's obvious, but also to try to catch
those precious moments when light creates short lasting
but ever so sweet, heavenly moments for us to indulge.
Cheers,
Robi

Hi Luko, very interesting to see you post architecture. While I like your idea, I don't really appreciate the result - at least the way it is displayed here on Trekearth with very small dimensions. I suppose this picture needs to be viewed on a large scale for it (and the dark & glowing theme) to be effective ;)
