- The TGV is France's high-speed rail service, currently operated by SNCF Voyages, the long-distance rail branch of SNCF, the French national rail operator. At mid 2011, the TGV is the fastest conventional train in the world, reaching 320 km/h (200 mph). A TGV test train set the record for the fastest wheeled train, reaching 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph) on 3 April 2007.

- Re 460 had been designed for 200 km/h, for passenger service on the SBB-CFF-CFS. The technical top speed is 230 km/h
