Villereal is a beautiful little village in the region of Lot-et-Garonne. The village was founded in 1269 by Alphonse de Poitiers as a French bastide town. The town was however occupied by the English during much of the Hundred Years War. The most unusual and interesting feature of Villereal is its 14th century market hall, that dominates the central square. Markets are still held there on a Saturday morning, as they have been for the last 700 years. The nearby fortified church, which is the centre piece of this shot, is a really interesting place to visit. Villereal is a lively, attractive small town, with lots of back streets to explore - the area down from the church is perhaps the best for seeing medieval houses looming over narrow alleys. The town is unusual in that it has 'real' shops rather than tourist shops, and is active all year around. It is well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.

Hi Peter,

Very good capture here you did. Good POV and detail, I see you took this photo at 5:35 by the clock on the church very good color I see to left is a FTD florist. Great job my friend Peter.

Regards
Jason.

I like this simple and straight forwad shot which captures the essence of etxtures and colorus so well. The perspective is superb

Hello Peter,
A very nice atmosphere to this beautiful composition. The lady with her shopping trolley brings much mood to the scene and compensates for the parked cars whilst the old church makes a beautiful backdrop. Very good colours and clarity.

Hello Peter,

This is quite different from the normal Cathedral buildings such as those of the Gothic style, having the buttresses but without the stained glass rose windows. But hand on, if I am not deceived by my eyes there seems to be some evident of the rose window been sealed up just above the entrance, just as the window of the bell tower were bricked up.

It looks like it is not easy to get a clear full view of this church with all that buildings and cars around it, but you managed to get the most of it. I would wish that the cars are not there to block the view of the entrance door, but I understand that as a visitor you may not have all the time to wait for the cars to be gone. I also wonder if you could have move just a little to the right to avoid the roof of the left bell tower from being partially concealed by the FG building. Still, I like your posting of this significant historic building.

With warm regards
Alfred

Peter,
Great shot of this old church! The angle of the shot works well providing a nice sense of depth and direction. The woman with here shopping cart adds a nice sense of life to the shot. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail.

Lovely and peaceful atmosphere,Well idea to capture by your inspiration then expression clearly in this scene, love the position of element in this scene and well sharpness through this scene. Good work,TFS.

G'day Pete!

'Tres francais' scene in this shot, in both the church brickwork and cobblestone streets. I'm figuring you shot this from your sidewalk cafe table, where you'd been sampling the local cuisine and imbibing just a wee bit? I always found my Oly 8080 struggled to get a correct blue sky colour?
Does France have any mountains!!!

Best wishes,
Jeff

ciao Peter,

Scatto ricco di particolari in cui anche le automobili arricchiscono la composizione, bravo

Hello Peter!
I like this picture very much because of the pretty nice architecture it shows, but also because it looks very natural, with a pretty daily life atmosphere!
All the other technical elements, in my humble opinion, are correct and have a positive influence in the result!
TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards,
Neyvan

Hi Pete,
Lovely vertical presentation of this beautiful French village.
The wonderful twin towered old church is very well seen against the light blue sky.
Excellent sharpness and details to go along with a very informative note.
Regards, Tom
