For those of you who were not aware, there is a new scavenger hunt. There are seven items on the list of things to photograph. Photographs must be taken during the time frame of the hunt in order to count. October 16 - December 31. This photo is for the category " religious building at night."

Location: This temple, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) is located in Provo, Utah. In was completed in the year 1972.

About the photo: I shot this photo about 30 minutes after the sun went down so there was still some blue in the sky. It was a very cold night. If you look closely you can see a fresh dusting of snow on the mountains in the background from a storm that had just passed through.

Beautiful building, and your timing was great with this shot. The lighting on the church is good, and the slight bit of color in the sky gives this an incredible blue mood, adding a lot to the photo. Excellent!

Bonjour,
Un véritable appel à la ferveur.
Bonne journée.

I think I'll give a go on the hunt too. It seems very funny! Architecture is surely not one of TE's loved ones, but I really love it. This photo is very good my friend. It's so well exposed and it was taken just during the right time of the day (night). The compo is very good and the structure really resembles an ufo or a submarine. That electric blue sky against the soft white of the building is amazing! Great one Ryan.

Hi Ryan,
A more then excellent exposure on this one...very good.
So much detail in the whites, really amazing. But what i like most is the contrast between that white and deep blue sky...that 30D is really a good camera. And yes, i can see the snow on the moutaintop...wonderfull.
Regards, Henk

Hi Ryan! Very nice work here, especially on the exposure. The colors are rendered perfectly. It is impressive how you can see the details of the snow in the darker background areas. Looks like you have a leg up on the scavenger hunt!

Regards,
Doug

Love the colors, but I prefer straight verticals on buildings and especially on the temples. Don't know, maybe that was the feel you were looking for. With that wide of lens and standing below the temple on the hill really exagerates it.

Amazed at how well you handled the color of the halogen lights to get the temple colors right yet keep that beautiful night sky. Did very well there.

Hi Ryan:

I love the perspective on this shot. I shot the Provo Temple myself a couple months ago from the exact same spot, but I didn't have the lower perspective that you have in this shot. It makes all the difference between our shots. The exposure is perfect, as was your timing. Nice job.
