Hi All.
This is the main street of Skagway and yes that is a cruise ship at the end of the street. Skagway has a permanent population of 800 and when the boats are in it can swell to over 10,000 but the town is fighting to retain some the old time character with new buildings having to conform to the old time “look”. There’s even talk of limiting the number of jewellery stores to 50!!!
Enjoy,
Paul.

Hello Paul,
An interesting composition, with the street leading directly to the ship!
Lots of going-ons nicely captured, all framed by the majestic mountains...
Attractive colours in the amazing Northern light!
Greetings,
Pablo -

The view the inhabotants of this city have is bautiful. Imagine waking up to see such a huge mountains very day? Amazing and beautiful. The breathtaking view of this place is excellent. Nice point of view and good clarity and sharpness. I love little places like this one because of the charm and great views. Thanks Paul.

Roberto

Hi Paul,
I am glad you show us also some images from the street. It seems you walked a bit from the boat which we see in the background. Looks like a nice town, not to busy with traffic. Like the Harley parked on the right, just as all the other small details in this scene. Of course the most impact has the snow covered mountain in the back, he is so dominant that it really makes the image...wonderful.
Regards, Henk

Hi Paul,
This town is quite original. Wild west style buildings on the main street. Big cruise ship at the end of the road, and majestic snowy peak as a background. I'd crop below the speed limit sign.
Kari

It means that most of the people we can see in the picture are tourists from the cruise ship. Correct? Nice perspective, were the sip itself looks like another town buiding. Well done.
Antonio

Hello Paul,
a very nice perspective of the main street of Skagway. The cruise boat that we see in the background and the large number of jewelery stores are really impressive. The razor sharp focus is excellent and I love your composition and choice of POV. Wonderful light and brilliant colours, a very well crafted shot, Well done Paul.

Regards,danos

Hi Paul,
if their only problem is the number of jewellery stores, who cares..
Nice view and following the road - hey, what's that - strange car there coming from the background. Good colours and light, the POV with that end is just good.

Bonjour Paul,

Gran perspectiva.
Saludos cordiales
Ros

hi paul...
very attractive shot with its cleanliness and clarity... the mountain at b/g is giving a nice contrast to the street....
greetings...

Hi Paul,
Interesting the optical effect that offers us the great cruise ship in background, at the end of the main street and under the magnificent mountain full of snow.
Caught good the urban environment and the daily life of this town, in an image where the people give it the dynamism and the character.
It is impressive that there are more than 50 jeweler's shops here!
Nice work.
Best regards,
Josep

Jacques

Hi Paul,

Alaska is one of the place I want to visit, and your shots encourage me really! This one is also very useful and beautiful. The snowy mountain at the end of the road is quite impressive. The big boat also give a little of scale. Good perspective! Thanks.

Have a nice sunday,
Angel.

Paul, you got a nice overview of the main street of this little town of Skagway. The street leading to the port gives a good sense of depth, however I would have taken this image more from the other side of the street for several reasons. One you would see the busy live ilumminated by the sun and second the ship would have been more evident in the background.
Regards, Peter

Hi Paul,
the POV adds interest to the scene.
Very good perspective lines, including use of the diagonal on the lower right - the side of the road.
:-)

Well done.

Hi Paul,
Very interesting combination of the small town high street, impressive snow covered mountain in the background and surprising cruise ship.
I like the small town atmosphere that is well conveyed here, with no heavy traffic and relaxed people in no hurry.
