Shooting in Gangasagar mela is a wonderful experience to me...Near about half milion colorful people from all over India....
Gangasagar Mela(fair) is the largest fair celebrated in West Bengal(INDIA). This fair is held where the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal form a nexus. Hence the name Gangasagar Mela. This festival is celebrated during January every year and is a major attraction for millions of piligrams from all over India.
The pilgrims come for a holy dip on Makar Sankranti (last day of the Bengali Month) Negha -Mid January. They take dips in the Ganges and offer water to the Sun God. The dip, as they say, purifies their 'self' and according to them, 'punya' can be obtained thus. When they are done with the ritual obligations, they head towards the Kapilmuni Temple situated nearby, to worship the deity as a mark of respect.
Plz criticize it except about size….

It makes me remember another one from you, playing with hair an water. Excellent shot with great effects. I like also the "sea of people" in the back.

Hi Subir
light, timing and sharpness are very good here. This a beautifull picture indeed and an interesting report.

Beautifully timed shot Subir, I think it's superb.
If I have one criticism it's that I'd have preferred to have had him more separated from the details in the background. I see you used quite a wide aperture, so maybe shooting from further back with a longer focal length would have worked well.
Excellent shot though, well done.

Cheers,
Ben

What a great and fascinating photo Chris.
Great POV, details, full of speed and very sharp.
I love it, regards Ingrid

Hello Subir,

Wonderful timing and the sharpness and light are also beautiful. Every splash of water is visible clearly from the long hair. Perfect one!!

Hello Subir
An equally good complement to your earlier picture. Timing is excellent. Best part is the arc of the 'jota' hair & the water in it's wake. I like the tiny man, standing on top of the boat, just behind his hair. Spectacular shot!

Angshu

Hi Subir,
this is an amazing shot in quality, time and POV. It is true that the boat on the left is a bit disturbing, however I like very much the crowd on the right, which gives depth to the picture.
Best regards
Marica
