Todays post is a scan of a transparency taken according to my notes in January 1964 but unfortunately with no exposure details. It does look to have faded a little over the years, but I feel that does not detract from the overall view. It is a view no longer to be seen, as the buildings are now obscured by a thick plantation of trees, [see Wikipedia - Betws-Y-Coed]
The river is the Afon Llugwy which is a tributary of the River Conwy, Afon Llugwy starts life as an outflow from Ffynnon Llugwy, [translation: source of Llugwy] a lake 544 metres high in the Carneddau Mountains of Snowdonia and flows down through Capel Curig before joining the River Conwy at Betws-Y-Coed.
The picture must have been taken with my first SLR, a Practica IV which was a birthday present from my late mother. I was quite proud of that camera as it had a split image viewfinder, quite rare in those days especially on the cheaper range of cameras. |
