Fortaleza is one of the biggest cities in Brazil, with almost 4 million people in the metropolitan area. One decade ago it was one of the top 5 tourist destinations in Brazil, but nowadays it is hardly top 10. Prostitution (especially infantile prostitution, fed by travelers from abroad), garbage in the streets, a decadent seashore (the once feverish Iracema Beach) and historical buildings badly conserved or situated in dangerous neigborhoods. Cities like Natal and Maceió, smaller but quite attractive, are "stealing" tourists from Fortaleza.... (full story) (3 photos)

Day 1 - Arrived at Paris via a bus transfer from the airport. Found our hotel easily and settled in at once. Climbed the Effiel Tower and went for a walk down the Seine.

Day 2 - Took the metro to Disneyland Paris and had a great day on the rides and watching shows. I particularly enjoyed the Tunder Mountain.

Day 3 - A sight-seeing tour of the city. This included vists to the Champs-Elysées, Sacre-Coeur, the Louvre and Norte Dame. In the evening we climbed the Effiel Tower again got to the very top.

Each day we also ate some alot of great food and a great holiday was had by all. (5 photos)

I would like to present this marvelous region. I hope that my pictures will represent the diversity of this department. Alternating between extensive landscapes, sloping villages, narrow streets, stale shop-signs, perched castles, white stone or red sandstone, tile roofs or lauze, soil products...... It was a emotional trip for me...my father passed away a few months before i took this trip...long back he was the first person who brought me to this paradise wheni was a kid. shortly after that visit, there was a bloody uprising of Gorkhas...hundreds of people were murdered...mostly unaccounted for...almost 20 years later i found myself in a similar situation again...only this time the leader has changed....but the reality remained the same...pain and anxiety for the tourists... After last year's trip to Ukraine, this year my teacher organized the biketrip to Istanbul. We left from Szeged, Hungary and arrived in Istanbul, Turkey 1560 kms further and two weeks later. We went through Romania, a short section in Serbia, Bulgaria, another short section in Greece and finally Turkey. It rained quite a lot and we often got wet. All in all we saw many beautiful things, met very very kind people and enjoyed the trip much. These photos are a bit like documentaries... :) (4 photos)

Zanskar, Northern India by Paul Bulteel (pauloog) Silver Note Writer [C: 7 W: 0 N: 15] (92) :: 2008-07-01 - 2008-08-31 :: 122 Views

Zanskar is an isolated region in Northern India with an authentic Tibetan buddhist tradition. Together with Ladakh it is often called "little Tibet". Zanskar can only be reached in summer through a 250 km one way track starting in Kargil. I visited parts of Kashmir, Zanskar and Ladakh during July - August 2008. These photos are about Zanskar only. Life in Zanskar is harsh, with long strong winters. The trip was a fascinating experience for several reasons : fascinating landscapes, friendly people, discovering buddhist traditions. (21 photos)

Pictures from my trip to India in July of 2008. My main purpose was to visit some friends who run a children's home in Andhra Pradesh. I played with the children, and took videos and pictures to show to the sponsors back in the States. However, I did get to do some tourism along the way! I visited historic places such as Warangal, Undavalli, Golconda, and Bidar. I was amazed at the history that was present everywhere I looked. In this travelogue, I hope to be able to show the atmosphere of India off the beaten path... (12 photos)

How was I to know at that time that it would be my last pictures taken on the ship, and the last Tall Ships' Race of Asgard II?
For Asgard II has sunk on September 11, 2008, near Belle-Ile en Mer (France). All 25 on board have been saved, but the ship is now lost...... (full story) (30 photos)

Bialowieza by Maciej Kowalski (millevitch) (68) :: 2008-09-05 - 2008-09-07 :: 257 Views

Bialowieza is a small village in the Eastern part of Poland, very close to the border with Bielarus.

I spent there only 3 days but it was a very exciting weekend. And, I have to admit, 3 days are not enough to see all the interesting places...

My travelogue is a good place to say something about people who live in this part of Poland. I was suprised that they are completely diffrent than, for example, people I meet everyday in Warsaw. First of all, they are much more friendly. Then, they have always a lot of stories to tell.... (full story) (6 photos)
