Azelin Candelabrum (8)
Buin Gold Star Critiquer/Gold Note Writer [C: 3599 W: 0 N: 7336] (26597)
This is a view of the Azelin Candelabrum in St. Antonius chapel in the cloister of Hildesheim cathedral. Hildesheim is situated in the south of the federal state Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), not far away from Hannover.
The candelabrum is accredited to bishop Azelin (1044 - 1054).

Only 4 of these medieval ring-shaped - like spoke wheels - candleholders are preserved in Germany because these 4 are made "only" of gold-plated copper and not of pure gold. By this they were kept from meltdown. Two of them are preserved in Hildesheim. I'll also show the other one, hanging in the intersection of the cathedral - with a diameter of 6 meters - the biggest still existing one.

They all show what is predicted in the Book of Revelation, chapter 21: The New Jerusalem coming down from heaven. The candelabrums show the golden city walls of Jerusalem with watchtowers.

This work of art transmits an incredible impression and one cannot help but be fascinated of it. Imagine - this golden ring in the dark church - with all candles burning ...

In the workshop you can see the interior of the chapel with Azelin Candelabrum and another photo with some of the incredible details of this nearly 1000 years old work of art.
