Great adramad 2016-08-23 9:19

Hello Ike.
This bus station is like a museum of street graffiti art, this show us today, although it is difficult to know what it represents is one of the most beautiful, by the combination of colors and variety of lines.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.
Very good management of lighting and sharpness.
Well done, the photo, such as scanning. I like it.
You have a good day.
Best wishes.
Luis.

Default To macjake: Bright Yellow......

Hi Craig,

Thanks for your kind words!

Yes, I think many cars in the early 20th century were actually painted in quite bright colours but this one may or may not be original. I know most of the Model T Fords from this era were back, but not all of them. As far as I believe, Henry Ford never actually said, "You can have any colour so long as it's black." any more than James Cagney ever said, "You dirty rat." or Humphrey Bogart ever said, "Play it again Sam."!

Yep, I guess Ralph Nader wouldn't have been too keen on that rear gas (petrol) tank but it's probably safer than the VW Beetle (of which I had two) which had its petrol tank at the front, right over the driver's knees - and that was a car that Ralph Nader campaigned against - as with the Chevvy Corvair.

Ah, ha, why are there so many trucks? Well, the Biggar Rally is dedicated to the memory of a guy who came from Biggar and founded the Albion Motor Works over a hundred years ago. Albion originally made cars but, from probably around 1920 onwards, made only lorries (trucks) and 'buses - like this one and these so there's lots of Albion lorries, old and fairly new here. And some of the lorries will be here because they have transported some of the cars here too - not everyone drives their old cars to the rally, unfortunately.

Cheers,

John.

Hello John,
Sorry for breaking into the conversation, but I have to point out that it was actually Ingrid Bergman who never said "Play it again Sam".
Cheers,
Gert

Default Play it again, Sam....

Hi Gert,

And I'm sure that 99.999% of the World's population have never said it either!

Cheers,

John.

Default I'm sure you're right.

Hello Gert,

I'm sure you're right - I did, in fact look at a little clip on YouTube and found it.

And, Gosh, what a lovely looking woman Ingrid Bergman was, wasn't she? I remember that my father always had a soft spot for her. But, then, she was Swedish so I suppose all Swedish people are beautiful.

Kind Regards,

John.

Hi Gert and John, I also looked at citations that were never said.

Henry Ford was not so different:

Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black.

Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) : Play it once, Sam. For old times' sake.

Sam: [lying] I don't know what you mean, Miss Elsa.

Ilsa Lund: Play it, Sam. Play "As Time Goes By."

Sam: [lying] Oh, I can't remember it, Miss Elsa. I'm a little rusty on it.

And James Cagney:

"Come out and take it, you dirty, yellow-bellied rat, or I'll give it to you through the door!"

I didn't know the third one.

Yes, I liked Ingrid Bergman very much and other Swedish actors, like Bibi Andersson. I agree that Swedish people are beautiful.

Cheers M
