Hello Andrew

Well getting up at obscene and unearthly hours should be a piece of a cake for you given the young chap in your household!

I'm liking the reflections and this image goes to show that the best light is indeed at the beginning or end of the day (as your sunset shot illustrates). Maybe I would have cropped the shadow of yourself plus tripod out in the lower left but I see why you maybe left it in since it may unbalance the composition slightly.

I love and enjoy and was fascinated by the place and the kind people, I post more in a serie People from Siberia

I arrive there in the transiberian from Ulam Bator and stayed only 2 days because I wanted to be at the White Nights at Saint Petersbourg, have a look at my videos in YT if you have time

I stayed at Listvyanka at the Baikal Leyend, in front of Olkhon Island
We arrived at the evening, sunset and early in the morning weather was great, but at midday , when we were at the port for an hour cruise , the lake was covered by a thick mist which seems to be very common at this hour of the day
Check the hotel, I went on an excursion, returning home I check all prices and found they are cheap if you not use an agency
Tip: Stay some days at the island, visit the Talsy museum with time
Let me know if you need some more advise
Cheers, Maria

How interesting! So you went by transsiberian train, how it was? Were you with a group, family, or alone? I also plan to go by transsib but shorter way, from Perm to Irkutsk, 3700 km. I have heard that the people drink there. Is it true? I would like to go with the platskartnyi, not the second or first class, just to have contacts with the people, main reason for going . I plan to spend some days on Olkhon, when possible to make some trips, but it can be too expensive for the alone person.
Baikal Leyend - I saw, very expensive, for sure not for me. But it is not close to Olkhon Island. It is 80 or more km farther. And why you haven't posted anything from the train, or Baikal, or , most important, Sankt Petersburg

Thanks! WArm regrads MAlgo
