Photographer's Note
Overlapping arches in my hotel at Sharm El Sheikh on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, with the Gulf of Suez to the west, and the Gulf of Aqaba to the east. There seems to be a dune buggy in the distance. I continued north the next day by bus to Nuweiba. To get to Jordan by boat they would ONLY accept $100 USD (United States Dollars) from all foreigners, except Egyptians / Jordanians, who could pay for the ticket in Egyptian Pounds or Jordanian Dinar. They would not take Euro or Egyptian Pounds from me. When I went to the bank to exchange money for USD, they refused & said it was against the law. They did me a favour. I later read many bad reports on internet about the boat being 18 hours late and additional departure /arrival tax fees, unclean seats and terrible meals. I headed instead to Taba and crossed into Eilat in Israel, which was great, thence to Aqaba in Jordan, also nice. Beware of paying a group travel entrance fee in Jordan if you are a solo traveller, or a duo. It is non refundable at Amman airport despite what the Aqaba border guard told me.

Hello Chris,
This obviously doesn't look much like where the locals are living, but the arches are still nice, and so is the floor. The blue beams look slightly out of place, but the light is good and the photo has quite some depth despite not showing any great distance though the hotel. I have so many memories of rigid currency regulations in Asia and the Middle East in the 70's and 80's, but in later decades the rules were generally more relaxed. I didn't have to pay any kind of entrance fee to Jordan, Lebanon or Syria in 1995.
Regards,
Gert

Bonsoir Chris,
La suite des arches crée de la profondeur. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des arches. La lumière fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Hello Chris, a good repetition of the arches with the turquoise detail makes this an eye catching shot in the thumbnails. The floor contrasts well with the structure of the arches.
Interesting notes although I am not planning to travel to this part of the world!
The sunlight shining through the arches is a nice feature.
Regards Jean.

Hello Chris,
Lovely perspective through these receding brick arches. I like the warm/cool tonal contrast supplied by the blue paintwork. The whole is nicely exposed with well rendered colours and textural details.

Hello Chris,
You sound like a very knowledgeable, seasoned traveller! I suppose, travelling alone to so many places, you will remember any irritating problems!
I like this photo!
It's funny in the way, it seems as if something amazing will be at the end of these repeating and declining arches, almost like a drum roll, to a sand buggy!
It is a finely executed shot with great linear perspective!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Chris, I was also in Sharm El Sheikh and from there I went to Aqaba and later to Petra. It was an organized tour so I had no problems. Have you snorkelled in the Red Sea? Attractive view of these red arches and blue walls, Nice place.

Chris, that photo displays the hotel terrace. Coffee tables and wooden arm chairs are the perfect place to have breakfast. The pov creates a pleasant visual result. Beautiful red bricks arches. Interesting text useful for the future travellers visiting that area
