Photographer's Note
Ahmenhotep IV is better known by his alternate name Akhenaten. The king ascended the throne under his birth name, Amenhotep IV, but in his 5th regnal year, he changed his name to one that better reflected his religious ideas: (Amenhotep = “Amun is satisfied,” Akhenaten = “Effective for Aten”).
This is a detail from the Talatat wall in Luxor Museum. The blocks were used as fill in the ninth pylon created by King Horemheb, the last king of the Eighteenth Dynasty. They have been painstakingly repaired and reconstructed after being retrieved from the pylon. Akhenaten is the pharaoh who attempted to obliterate the polytheistic religion of ancient Egypt and change it to a monotheistic worship of just one God, Aten, usually represented by the sun. For that he was dubbed the 'heretic king' and subsequent pharaohs did all they could to erase his memory.
I might load a workshop showing a wider angled view of part of the left wall. More info here.

Hello Chris,
The WS is a good complement to inform us how visitors can view this work of art. This photo gives us a closer look at how much has been lost or destroyed through the millennia. It's still a beautiful work and you captured it with good light and contrasts. We can really feel the texture of the wall.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Chris,
The w/s shows us the wall more entirely but it is pleasing to be able to see this close-up, for its details.
Though damaged, we can appreciate the skill and the information created on this wall!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Chris
Sitting here at my workstation thinking how beautiful this must have been in its inception. The colors must have been vivid and helped tell the story. Amazing how these dynasties, cultures, and people fade from history. Just these tell tale signs of their existence. WOW.

Hello Chris.
The detail of this wall with the relief of Akenathon is stupendous, it is difficult to find remains that show the figure of this cursed pharaoh, the remains are very interesting with the pharaoh receiving the rays of the sun, a representation of his god Aton
Very good color that increases the attractiveness of the image.
Superb brightness and sharpness management to enjoy the details.
Well seen and done. I like it.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Chris
Egypt is way up on my list of countries to visit....I wonder if I could bring my drone...I want to fly over the pyramids early in the morning when nobody is around. So cool to see these, its a culture that we know a lot about, but at the same time we also know very little and i'm sure more will be found in the years and decades to come. I love watching documentaries on the Egyptian way of life...there's a great one on Netflix right now, about an excavation site where they find so many artifacts. Fascinating. cheers
