Photographer's Note
One of several statues of Thutmose III, the reigning Pharoah of Egypt from 1479-1425 BC. A full body shot of the statue can be seen in this link. Correcting the green tint at left caused by fluorescent lighting, made the red/magenta tones at right excessive & vice versa. Another option was b&w.

And from Wikipedia:
"Thutmose III ruled Egypt for almost 54 years and his reign is usually dated from 28 April 1479 BC to 11 March 1425 BC, from the age of two and until his death at age fifty-six; however, during the first 22 years of his reign, he was coregent with his stepmother and aunt, Hatshepsut, who was named the pharaoh. While he was shown first on surviving monuments, both were assigned the usual royal names and insignia and neither is given any obvious seniority over the other. Thutmose served as the head of Hatshepsut's armies. During the final two years of his reign, he appointed his son and successor, Amenhotep II, as his junior co-regent. His firstborn son and heir to the throne, Amenemhat, predeceased Thutmose III. He would become one of the most powerful Pharaohs of the 18th dynasty."
As was quite common for succeeding monarchs, much of his stepmother's legacy was erased, chiselled out or destroyed. He must have really resented her being joint head of state for 22 years.

Hello Chris,
Imposing ancient statue, well preserved through the time past.
One remark though: I think you took this one too close to the subject, probably no other choice.
Have a nice sunday,

Hi Chris,
Very impressive close up of the pharaoh bust.
Even if the travel opens slowly, many of us still get back to the archives. Maybe I should reach into my Egyptian archives as well.
Very well done,
