Photographer's Note
This picturesque kasbah (castle ancient fortified settlement) of Tioulit is on road that connects Agadir to Tafraoute through Aït Baha, in the middle of the scenic Anti Atlas mountain range. Probably not as popular as the High Atlas and the Sahara, the Anti Atlas, the South West tip of the Moroccan Atlas is an impressive place, both for its desolation and aridness and for the human occupation (architecture and agriculture). It's quite a surprise finding how so (relatively) many people still live in these places and manage to make this land produce enough for their living. It's amazing how in a so desolated landscape you have always houses in sight, many of them looking as still being used. While many are below in the valleys, many ones, like these, are 'hung' on the edge of the hills or perched on top of them.
Most of the little trees that may look just like shaky bushes are actually almond trees, one of the main sources of income for these people that live here.
PP work: as most of the shots of this day, the original had a severe excess of red and blue and lacked contrast. I tried to overcome that by playing with the colours curves and saturation. Maybe is too yellow, but as far as I remember, the real colours of the earth are very close to what appears on the image. I had to process separately the sky, as it kept some of the red (actually close to reality). The shadows were too dark, so I had to blend a with a cloned semi-transparent layer to brighten the shadows without loosing much contrast.
After someone asked for it, I posted the original image as a WS.

Olá José, the difference between original and PP version is heavy, the light impact is the main thing. From the technical perspective is your result good, but how much reality is left? Not to discuss too much in detail and I have never been there or in other deserts, but how close to reality with this bright light?
Nevertheless I like the fine composition with the POV which is well chosen to present parts of the inner village. The road before gives the photo an impression of movement.
And the note is explaining a lot.
Cheers, Ulf

Hi Jose,
This photo is great but the subject is beyond incredible!! Knowing me, I would cut just a bit of the top but other than that it is just a dream I always had!! Just breathtaking! :))

I have no problem at all with the PP you did. If you remember it like this then why not use the tools at your disposal to re-create what you saw. Some people think that what the camera produces is the reality, but the light/darkness of the image depends on your exposure. I'm sure your eyes didn't see it as the original in the WS. Film labs made these adjustments all the time. Great work with good off-centre composition.

Olá Jose,
Your photo shows us their different habit of settlement excellently. Their compulsion is still not enough for bringing up green plants there. I like your clever POV again after yesterday’s post because this one also gives an incredible view. Your workshop photo is approved its quality and your skill full works on this principle version. Congratulations.
Friendly Regards,

Beautiful landscape. i like a lot what you did in the PP. Looking at the workshop I feel you got much closer to what your eyes saw at that time. Great job.

Olá José!
Outra excelente foto.

Very good post-processing work. I like how you improved colors and tones of under-exposed original.
I think, you could have cropped even more of the sky.

ricardo
