Photographer's Note
Nababeep (with the accent on the second 'a') is a small mining town in the desert area of the Northern Cape, getting close to the southern end of Namibia. Coming through the Namaqualand area ,in mid-winter is the full-on desert experience. In Spring, however, one of the world's most spectacular flower displays on the planet erupts in bloom with huge fields of the desert covered in daisies, gazanias and other desert flowers.
This shot has been cropped (to take out some of the Nababeep rooftops) - but you might be surprised at how little saturation I have used: I got lucky with the sky under strong side-lighting from a late afternoon sun, and the flowers really are that colour. BTW - Southern Hemisphere Spring if you are thinking of visiting.

What a stunningly beautiful photo of these flower which have such a fantastic strong colour, which also goes really well together with the very blue sky. The rocks also make a great contrast with the bright slopes. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Iain
impressive and mysterious land formations from the wilderness. You sure pulled the right strings to get that rich red soil to pop your eyes with immediate impact but it's the contrasting blue that does it for me adding a heap of punch! A marvellous take of a very special and unique place, just beautiful to look at. Congrats
Wishing you a Merry Christmas
Best regards

Hi Iain
That's a great lunar landscape, perfect Earth colors and set nicely against this vivid blue sky broken by the grey rock. Great photo

Hello Iain
A striking shot with fantastic colours. The light brings out wonderful colours and the deep blue colour of the sky really provides a fine contrast. Lovely work:) TFS.
