hi Silvio, this is good and not good shot in same time.,
Exelent motive and POV, technicli you are able to do better shot. It is not cleare, too much work on it , coloure of the sky is not nature and too much extra sharpnes.

Hello Silvio,
How steep is this going up the hill? It doesn't really look like there is any space between the houses.
The pov makes this a very interesting picture and there is a little bit of color everywhere.
Well captured.

I liked this immediately when I saw it yesterday, but decided to hold back on critiquing it until I had a chance to do a quick workshop.
I just found the unnatural colour of the sky a little offputting; more pale green than blue. I think the inclusion of the sky is necessary though, and I don't think cropping to remove the sky would have worked. I had a go at making the colour of the sky appear more natural. The result is in the WS.
That's enough about the sky. I really like this shot. You found a great viewpoint, and using the tele end of your zoom has compacted the scene nicely, making all the buildings seem even closer together than they probably were. I like especially how you managed to keep all the vertical lines of the buildings vertical in the frame.
It looks a fascinating place, I really must go back to Italy soon!
Good work Silvio.
Cheers,
Ben

Ciao Silvio,
You chose the best POV and framing to show the high density of houses in this shot. Artena remembers me the village of Masuleh in Iran.

I'm sure there's nothing new to say about this great image. I'm guessing you used a long lens to compress the perspective and make the hillside even steeper. I love it!

Hi Sylvio
What an impressive view. I guess that you have used a tele-lens deliberately to bring the stack of houses in one plane,; making of this picture a kind of cubist Picasso painting. Very well done !

Hello Silvio,
'' A HAPPY NEW YEAR '' to you.
Wow it always amazes me how these homes were built - incredible construction - there must be narrow roads or just pathways winding up behind these intriguing homes - Excellent POV clarity & again amazing content.
Kindest regards,

ciao silvio ~
it is astonishing to me that a town like this exists in italy, i have never seen this kind of verticality of so many structures before, how fascinating! i'm drawn into it, tempted to study each one closely to see what people have done to make their home a little unique when there is so much similarity in the building materials.
what a marvelous angle. it's amazing that people cluster together the way they do, isn't it?
kind regards,
kristin

Don Silvio...
There is a colloquialism in English, "to boggle the mind," or "it boggles the mind." This image boggles the mind -- it is hard to conceive that so much life can be perched on such a steep hillside! Your foto captures and presents this reality perfectly.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Silvio,
The quantity of buildings and houses is giving perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the houses and of the buildings. The light is giving a good contrast to the colours. Have a nice day.

Very good angle of view. Houses are like matchboxes piled up and stacked. I suppose there exist lot of stairs all over the place which keeps residents in good fit! Few branches on FG are nice details and show the depth well. Composition is good and I like that almost the whole photo is filled with houses.
Cheers, Kaisa

Hi Silvio Sorcini
This place remind me Masuleh in north of Iran :
Masuleh architecture is unique. The buildings have been built into the mountain and are interconnected. Courtyards and roofs both serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets. Masuleh does not allow any motor vehicles to enter, due to its unique layout. It is the only city in Iran with such a prohibition. However, the small streets and many stairs simply wouldn't make it possible for vehicles to enter.
The spectacular architecture of Masuleh is popularly known as "The yard of the building above is the roof of the building below".

Beautiful photo with layers of houses which look like an almost abstract pattern.
You said you know that church in Santa Trinita well... Do you know what happened to the women in Casale Antonelli? Are they alive?
Thank you

Hi Silvio,
I hope you're fine and you're in good health conditions. Very interesting shot. Typical Italian architecture, I guess - overcrowded, very busy, but at the same time unique and interesting. A pity you haven't had proper sunlight when shooting and the colors are a bit washed out, because the composition itself is excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards from Ireland, László

A very artistic view. One must wonder how do they get around. Must be a lot of steps. Try and find a way to move a piano ... really. Great natural brick and stone colors. Some Italian sea villages use a stucco and yellow, white, and colored walls, while here was see a weathered grey. TFS very much, great shot.

During my travels, I saw such tight buildings in Rio de Janeiro.
Good framing interesting architecture.

Ciao Silvio,
This seems to be one of the most popular of your photos on TrekEarth. It is great but I think I have seen even betyter pictures in your gallery, it is just in the past TrekEarth was more popular and more frequently visited by many people.
Having said that, this is an amazing composition with the amalgam, labirynth of houses of similar style. It seems to stretch forever. Great point to make the best use of it.
Excellent work,
M
