The Grand Bazaar in Sultanahmet, Istanbul. It has several entrances and exits and is well worth looking around for an hour or so, more if you're a keen shopper. It's one of the biggest and oldest covered markets in the world, with over 3000 shops and 61 covered streets. Fortunately there are no motor bikes or cars!

Hello Chris,
An image full of animation and with lots of interesting detail. Very well exposed and with excellent colours and clarity. The star and crescent pennant makes a great focal point.

Hello Chris,

Exceptional shot of this location. I was there 6 or 7 years ago, and was intrigued by the shopping and the spice market. What impressed me the most, and your photo reinforces that, is the fantastic colors. In viewing the merchandise, it doesn't appear there is anything that is not there. Musical instruments, wearing apparel etc.

The composition is great. I note that you had a polarizing filter in use. I have one on all my lenses, but seldom use it inside.

Excellent clear and sharp capture of the interior of the bazaar.
A very colourful and well detailed picture.
The little we can see of the structure, shows a beautiful building, in beautiful blue and white and with nice patterns and decorations.
Of my visit at the beginning of the 80s I have fond memories of the Egyptian Bazaar. In the rest of the bazaar I found the building really beautiful but the stores were too heavily focused on the buying behavior of tourists and not on the daily needs of the residents of Istanbul. Well, so far my memories.

Hello Chris, Nice shot from this Bazaar in Istanbul. I visited some stalls but only looked at them, now I do not buy any souvenirs. Excellent picture, even inside the colours and sharpness are superb. Good presentation. But more interesting that the items sold is the architecture of the building.

My visit to Grand Bazaar was very short as I had so many other things in mind to do a couple of years ago.
You clearly have taken time to find a very colourful part of bazaar, with wide variety of merchandise, Turkish flag and decorated arches. Daily life well presented, without too crowded feeling.

Well, when I see all that stock, I wonder who buys all this stuff ! I guess the Grand Bazaar is designed specifically for tourists. Your picture is a true view of what a bazar is like, a lot of everything with a lot of people in it. I like the richness of details and colours in this shot. You have handled the light very well in circumstances which, I can imagine, were not easy. Well spotted, nice daily life capture.
