Sunrise On the Inside Passage, a photo from Alaska, West

Photographer's Note

Southeast Alaska is temperate rainforest, punctuated by many small and large islands. Cruise, ferry, fishing, and merchant ships traverse the Inside Passage between Seattle and points north on these calm waters. This shot was taken from Point Higgins Beach north of Ketchikan, the southernmost town of the Alaskan panhandle. Islands visible are Valenar Island, off the coast of Gravina Island and, in the background, the snow-capped peaks of Prince of Wales Island

Hello Judy,
A beautiful and atmospheric first TE contribution! Welcome to TE! I like the many "levels" present in this composition. The sea, the islands, the snow covered mountains and the sky with the clouds. The low horizon creates a sense of wideness. You have controlled the light very well and the depth is amazing. The small boat and the floating fog are nice additions. The thing which makes this photo really attractive is the its atmosphere! You live in a lovely place! A joy to view!

A splendid view of the Inside Passage, at a calm moment. fine contrasts in pale natural colours. And the fishing boat provides depth and scale.

I see you had a great beginning with this fantastic photo...
To have such a beautiful mountains with the snow together with the ocean below plus pictoresque islands it is not an every day experience. The photo is well composed and the light on the mountains makes it a splendor. Seascapes are my favourite subject so I cannot help but appreciate your photos.

Judy,
This is another very well composed picture with great atmosphere. I like the way you've included just a few essential elements - the boat on the still water next to that wooded islet, but most of all that stunning backdrop of snow-capped mountains.
I've taken the liberty of doing a small workshop as to me the mountains in particular seem a bit soft and I thought a little more contrast might help to give the image slightly more impact. Hope you don't mind :)

That's a very nice and moody sunrise with all the right ingredients the island, the boat and the snow mountains, it must have been a cold morning. Good composition and creative light on the snow.

Une photo qui aurait m閞it� plus de succ鑣 au nombre de fois qu'elle a 閠� vue, moi je l'aime beaucoup et je trouve que l'atmosph鑢e qu'elle d間age, � elle seule, vaut d閖� une bonne critique.
Une exposition parfaite des neiges, bien balanc閑s aussi dans leurs couleurs.
Une profondeur efficace.

I imagine the views along this body of water are always breathtaking. The mountains look huge from this angle and the little boat almost lost in such immense waterscape. Very good framing though the light wasn't the best this time. Thanks Judy :-)

Great shot of a not very known part of the world
What is great here ( as many said before me) is the different blue colors,sea, frog, sky and clouds
Like the mountains at the BG illuminated by the sun
Also an interesting note
