ENGLISH: Forza Napoli! Yesterday, Napoli defeated Serie A winners Juventus 2-0 to win the Italian Cup. Commiserations to Juventus fans Luciano and Peppe :)

Here we see the Piazza del Plebiscito which was and will be the scene of celebration for the Neapolitan people.

The celebrations have been bittersweet in light of two terrible incidents to hit Italy. Firstly, the earthquake which hit the Emilia-Romagna on Sunday and resulted in the loss of 7 lives, injuring many more and the destruction of homes and many historical treasures. The second event was the bombing of a school in Brindisi 2 days ago, which killed a young student and has seriously injured many more. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this terrible time.

ITALIANO: Forza Napoli! Ieri, Napoli ha vinto la Coppa Italiana contra Juventus 2-0. Commiserazioni ai Luciano e Peppe :)

Le celebrazioni sono state agrodolce nella luce di due incidenti terribili per colpire l'Italia. In primo luogo, il terremoto di Domenica scorsa che ha colpito l'Emilia-Romagna e provocato la perdita di 7 vite, ferendone molti altri e la distruzione di case e molti tesori storici. Il secondo evento � stato il bombardamento di una scuola a Brindisi 2 giorni fa, che ha ucciso una giovane studentessa e ha ferito gravemente molti altri. I miei pensieri e preghiere sono con voi durante questo brutto periodo.

Hello Lisa,

Nice idea of composition. I especially like the use of the lyon statue in the foreground and then the round perspective to reach the big architecture in background.
Good management of the B&W conversion, with a good setting of the contrast.

Ce ciel noir semble prendre le deuil pour ces victimes italiennes. Le football peut sembler un peu d閞isoire � c魌� mais c'est c'est aussi un moyen d'oublier tous les ennuis de la vie pour les passionn閟. Ta composition noir et blanc est, en tout cas, d'excellente qualit�.

Bel taglio Lisa,
Difficile determinare qual'� il soggetto principale.
Potrebbe essere la chiesa, ma anche il leone in FG che sembra dominare la scena.
Piazza del Plebiscito � sicuramente la pi� bella piazza di questa stupenda citt� partenopea.

P.S.
Non sono tifoso del Napoli, ma meglio la vittoria del Napoli che quella della Juventus.

Riguardo il brutto periodo italiano, ho letto la tua nota e ti ringrazio per le belle parole e pensieri.
Io penso che tu al posto del cuore hai un gioiello.

Funny note for football fans. Juventus was very popular in Poland when Boniek played there in the eighties. I do not know anything about other teams. Splendid black and white shot. Did you used here your new toy? The result is stunning.

L'avevo gi� vista postata su TE, questa piazza per la sua bellezza non ha bisogno di colori, basta e avanza un B&W per esaltarne la bellezza assieme ad una inquadratura da grande professionista.

A superb b&w image with a soft, diffused light, that has given maximum shadow detail, & excellent sharpness & tonal range. I love the big lion sculpture at right dominating the scene. I took a similar shot in Ulan Bator in Mongolia. But you have a better angle.

Maybe I would have run a neat image program on the sky or blurred it slightly to mask the grain. It's not a problem though & actually adds mood. Like all big cities, Naples can be gritty, and that why the grain is fine here. Tfs!

so here we are again.
I can view this one again and again, no problem with me!
It still amazes me how large that front 'door' looks, those columns and the front steps look huge!
I can totally see myself standing right at the bottom of those steps with my super wide angle 8-16mm lens and just pointing upwards! that'll be cool.
So many composition choices here its unthinkable.

But as your note states, this is more of a dedication, a 'sending my love' type of dedication to family and friends. Thoughtful as always.

hi lisa,
a cracking black and white presentation. the lion in the foreground really makes it with its presence dominating the foreground. it also creates a good lead in to the architecture. lovely textures in the stone, assisted by the 1000 ISO, and a moody sky to complete the image.

Tu che conosci Napoli e Palermo, dimme, non c'� somiglianza tra le due citt� ? Ho visitato Palermo e mi ha sembrata come immagino Napoli. Ma magari si sente meno in Africa a Napoli ? La tua passione per Napoli mi da veramente la voglia di vedere e sentire questa citt�.
Hai trovato une bel trattamento qui per dare un sentimento di drama, di paura e con il leone in primo piano, si capisce che Napoli � sotto protezione alta (quella di una autraliana credo ! ;))

a mio parere tra le tue foto in B & W questa � una delle pi� belle ed esprime molto bene tutta la tua classe e la capacit� tecnica nell'uso di questa tecnica.
Sai equilibrare a perfezione le varie gradazioni di grigio ricavandone effetti raffinati.
In questa foto, inoltre, la composizione, grazie al sapiente uso del grandangolo � molto raffinata soprattutto per la splendida idea di mettere in primo piano il leone con il suo sguardo bonario.
Il cielo nuvoloso, con le belle tonalit� da te ben evidenziate, ti ha dato poi una mano nel rendere morbide le sfumature e nel fare anche da degna cornice all'archityettura.
