Photographer's Note
This is a view of the region north of Paderborn in the east of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the south-eastern corner of the Westphalian lowlands (about 100 m a.s.l.). At the horizon you can see the montain range of the "Teutoburger Wald" (446m).
In this region probably the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest took place in the year 9 A.D. (probably lasting from September 9 to September 11) when an alliance of Germanic tribes led by Arminius, the son of Segimer of the Cherusci, ambushed and destroyed three Roman legions led by Publius Quinctilius Varus. 1/8 of the entire Roman army then was destroyed. Well known are the words of Augustus, the then Emperor of the Roman empire: Quintili Vare, legiones redde! (Quintilius Varus, give me back my legions!)
The small town you can see in the background is the well known spa Bad Lippspringe with several mineral springs.

Hello Frank,
A fine perspective over this rather flat landscape. I like the contrasts in tone provided by grass and sky. The foreground trees help add interest to the scene. Very good colours and clarity.

Hello Frank,
When in Your Portfolio I see such photo, then I know, that You are fit. The spring- atmosphere is contagious to us to all though the weather quite do not coddle us. How is visible on this photo, the spring set up very promisingly. Superb sun encourages to the walk. Nice colours, very good sharpness and interested POV.

Hi Frank,
doing a beautifull photo with a tropical beauch is quite easy. But doing it with two trees and a field need much more talent. Congrats, really.
Cheers,
Loïc

Hallo lieber Frank,
Auch diesmal "was" ganz anderes als Dein gewohntes Art. Informativ aber gleichzeitig graphisch perfekt. Schoen die Baeume im vordergrund. Recht Stimmungsvoll. Es erinnert mich and die Bremische Landschaft von Worpswede.
Dankeschoen und mfg aus İstanbul

Hello Frank,
A pretty picture of this region. The note is very interesting and I was introduced to a piece of history that I knew nothing about. Once again, a picture which is an invitation to take a walk.

Hello Frank,
Nice composition for this very simple landscape. I like the way you used the trees ti build this frame. I think I just would have cut the road on the right which is not very graceful.
Have a nice evening.
Best regards, Christian

Hm. This landscape look so very like home to me, with these birch-trees. So this is probably the place of that battle? I read about it...long ago, though.
Very good, peaceful and calm photo.

Bonsoir Frank,
Bonne nuit mon Ami

Frank bonsoir.

Harriet
