The Steller's sea eagle is the largest and most powerful eagles. Its silhouette is particularly recognizable with its paddle-shaped wings, a long tail ending in a wedge shape, massive beak and the tip of its wing closed barely reaching the tip of the tail.
This eagle eats fishes.
This bird is present in Asia

Hello Didi,

This is a fabulous photograph of a magnificent Steller's Sea Eagle!

You have composed this picture beautifully to concentrate the viewer's attention on that massive strong beak which is lit by lovely side light to bring out all the textures in it as well as the surrounding feathers of the creature's head and neck. The bird itself is beautully detailed and sharp against a nicely out of focus background which is not distracting. Lovely natural colours and perfect exposure.

P.S. It is interesting to compare this bird with my recent picture taken in Edinburgh Zoo - your specimen of this bird has brownish feathers whereas the ones I photographed appear to have more black/blue plumage.

Hello Didi,

A fine composition of this proud, powerful bird.
Its eye is strongly positioned in the frame and has a good catchlight.
I like how you have used the narrow dof to define the details of the bird, including its plumage, against an oof b/g.

Bonjour Didi,

I have a limited knowledge of birds, but this one was easily recognizable since there is an American football team that utilizes this as its mascot...the Seattle Seahawks. A regal looking creature captured splendidly, the shallow depth of field keeps all of the attention and sharp focus on the bird itself. Great light, color and detail. A very good profiled shot of the fish eating bird with superb use of a shallow dof to isolate and emphasise the fg bird distinctly from the oof bg. Good sharpness colour and framing. I like the repetition of the bg circles of confusion. Tfs!

The clarity and crispness of the picture is wonderful, and the bokeh well done isolating the OOF BG. This eagle has very sharp curved beak which is intended for fish hunting.
