A meeting in a forest park on the island of Roatan. An old inhabitant who seems to belong to prehistoric times! an iguana on the lookout ... watching me draw his portrait.

Beautiful portrait indeed. What a very decorative iguana, interesting color and shape! The long tail makes me think whether it is the same animal or a snake is eating the iguana from behind :)

This is amazing!
You are right, the creature looks like something from prehistoric times, with these scaly details and flat, clawed feet! Maybe something from the same line as crocodiles.
Your photograph is excellent, the focus is right on the head, with the long swerve of its tail following a diagonal across the page.

Considering that lizards are reptiles, no surprise that this iguana evokes prehistoric tones. The word 'dino-saur' literally means 'terrible lizard' (from Greek deinos 憈errible� + sauros 憀izard�), although this one looks relatively harmless. Tfs!

Bonjour Jean, I can抰 imagine how I would react if I were to meet this lizard on the path, but you were cool headed enough to get this excellent portrait of the creature!
The details are in sharp focus. We see his colours that are perfect to camouflage him in his surroundings.

If this one is as big as a adult croc ... a close meeting with it , I think I'm ... f+!% !!! , ooph !sorry :-)
I must admit such a MAGNIFICENT species.
Too bad all the Dinosaurs in prehistoric times were wiped-out in this world.
This picture is super sharp ... I can see every detail of this iguana, almost camouflaging with the small stones.
It has a tail like a snake too.
Thanks for sharing this amazing creature !
