Photographer's Note

Salernes in Provence is a village of the high Var, known for its industry of ceramic for 7000 years, as prove it vases found during archaeological excavations.
The industry especially developed in 18th century with the manufacturing of hexagonal floor-tiles which recover the grounds of numerous houses of Provence.
This industry knew a grave crisis from 1950. But 15 factories which survived made a success of a beautiful reconversion.
A museum named " Terra rossa " is recently opened in a old factory and its visit is very interesting.

Here, a view of a little street of the city. I did not resist to these colored facades and to the anarchy geometry of shutters.

L抜ndustrie s抏st surtout d関elopp閑 au 18鑝e si鑓le avec la fabrication de tomettes hexagonales qui recouvrent les sols de nombreuses maisons de Provence.
Cette industrie a connu une grave crise partir de 1950. Mais les 15 fabriques qui ont surv閏u ont r閡ssi une belle reconversion.
Un mus閑 nomm Terra rossa est ouvert depuis peu de temps dans une ancienne fabrique et sa visite est tr鑣 int閞essante.

Ici, une vue d抲ne petite rue de la ville. Je n抋i pas r閟ist ces fa鏰des color閑s et la g閛m閠rie anarchique des volets.
