Photographer's Note
Back to Puerto Rico today with a street scene from Old San Juan. Here you can see two different sides of the old city in one shot: the colorful colonial style buildings that define much of the tourist section of the city, but also the more run-down, graffiti'd version, more typical of areas such as La Perla, a slum district near where this shot was taken.
This shot initially caught my eye due to the two men sitting on the side street, but of course the bird looms large as well and adds an interesting counterpoint.

Hello Andrew,
The right part of the picture reminds me of Craigs photos from Havana, where people always seemed to be sitting outside their homes waiting for... whatever. The houses are really nicely painted, so I can understand that they attract tourists. As for the bird, sitting on ice should be a good way to keep cool in the subtropical heat.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Andrew
A fine street scene with a relaxed atmosphere and the artwork as a surprising, and humerous (as it is literally on ice), element. Love the colonial style of architecture and the attractive colours. Lovely work:) Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice evening.

Hi Andrew
now thats one large bird!! Yikes! it certainly grabs out attention visually, and it looks like YOU have grabed the attention of the men on the right...hope they didn't bother you at all.
I love these back alley type of scenes, it's real life, real people...thats what you captured here very well.
cheers

Hello Andrew,
I like the juxtaposition of the brightly coloured houses and the inner city run down wall with it's big graffiti bird.(She seems to be laying an 'ice' cube. Well observed.

Hi Andrew,
that bird painting is indeed quite surprising. It's not a typical style of wall painting. I also like the colours of this run-down neighbourhood. And your title is just superb!

Hi Andrew,
Haha, that's not the big bird I know from my childhood...why isn't it yellow? :) What a great scene, you've composed a beauty here. I'm loving the scale and scope of the elements involved, human or otherwise. lol
Such strong colors and contrast too, not to mention both smooth and gritty textures. An all 'round delight on the visual senses, with a dose of humor to make one smile. Not sure I'd want a bird that size hovering his back end over the ice machine though, that just spells trouble. Bright, airy and detailed...very well done! Have a good one. Take it easy.
Friendly wishes,
Jason
Much appreciation for adding my 'abstarctosis' to your favorites, always an honor!
