Photographer's Note
A section of a wall of Sofia skola, an elementary school in the S鰀ermalm district of Stockholm. It was the last of a number of "elementary school palaces" built in Stockholm from the 1880's and Sofia skola was inaugurated in 1910. The architecture shows a clear influence from "art nouveau".
"Folkskola" literally means "people's school". This was the name of the school system decided by the Parliament in 1842, when every parish in the country was ordered to provide basic education for all children.
I have erazed a wire from the right part of the picture and its shadow down the wall. Normally I don't like to change reality, but in this case I was disturbed by the interference in the architect's ideas.

Hej Gert,
Quite a modest photo from your side, I normally expect more colours! But the architecture is anyhow interesting, the patter on the wall seems quite modern. The Gothenburg jury gives it two smileys!

Hej Gert.
I've past this sign a few times and always been fashinated over it, I think the the word "folkskola" has a certain impact and gives a historic feeling of nasty teachers and nauty school kids in scool shorts and cap "Anderssonskan Kalle"

Hej Gert,
this is a curious photo which I thought I had commented on! (But there are still so many left in your gallery!)
It seems to me there is a funny thing about this shot: these squares above the letters almost correspond to almost each of the letters in "Folkskola". This is, perhaps, the main peculiarity of this shot :)
By the way, last summer I passed by this building and even took a coupld of photos of it - in the sunset light, after the heavy rain. But... I still don't know, can't decide whether to post this photo or not - or maybe your photo should remain unique! but mine is a photo of the whole building - from bottom to top, and not of a very good quality.
Kindest regards,
Elena

Hello, dear Gert,
In Russian language a school sounds like a shkola, I think it words has got Latin base everywhere in Europa. Like a "folk" word. This title is not so hard for understanding. Simple and minimalist but very informative work.
Best wishes from Russia!
