慣eruel - Mud閖ar beauty�

In Teruel I was very impressed by the beauty of the Mud閖ar style in which we find many historic buildings.

In no way it抯 my intention to compare this wonderful, sophisticated style with the choice of the town council of elegant street lanterns. So why do I post these two subjects on one picture?
Well, I absolutely like this view, I like the colour contrast and � after my rather cold time in Cuenca � I finally found sunshine and real blue skies in Teruel. They turned the stone colour of the San Martin Tower into such a warm tones with a strong contrast with the blue of the sky.

The Mud閖ar style is a style of Iberian architecture and decoration of the 12th to 16th centuries, strongly influenced by Moorish taste and workmanship.
Particularly in Aragon and in Castilla one can find this style.

Please have also a look at the pictures in the workshop. They show the same Torre de San Mart韓 although many imposing Mud閖ar-style towers have been built in Teruel.

From Wikipedia:

The Torre de San Mart韓 is a medieval structure in Teruel, Aragon, northern Spain. Built in Aragonese Mud閖ar style in 1316 and renovated in the 16th century, it was added to the UNESCO Heritage List in 1986 together with other Mud閖ar structures in Teruel.

The tower was built between in 1315 and 1316. In 1550 its lower section was restored due to the erosion caused by humidity.

Like other structures in Teruel, it is a gate-tower decorated with ceramic glaze. The road passes through an ogival arch. The tower takes its name from the annexed church of St. Martin, dating to the Baroque period.

Very well observed and captured !
Perfect graohical effect created by this good pov; splitting the frame with the fassade and the blue sky with the ancient street lamp in the foreground.

Hi Paul,

Well organized composition of two juxtaposed attractive elements.

The light allows the intricate details to stand out nicely. These oriental motifs are rarely presented through bricks and I found it fascinating.

There's a thick visible halo around the streetlamp that is the result of post-processing and that shouldn't be there, considering the quality of your image.

Hello Paul,

An interesting juxtaposition of these two highly ornate but extremely differnt features. The details are crisp with wonderful textures.
I like the addition of the terra cotta in the border. It consolidates the whole.

Is the slight halo a result of sharpening?

Well cropped almost 2 D effect shot, so well detailed and close enough to enjoy the highly intricate architectural beauty of these two pieces of antique mega artworks. Superb sharp focus and particularly it's great to see the combination of colors as they appear so splendour. Wat een treffende en knap uitgevoerde jucxtapositie van straatmeubilair en architectuur - er zijn uiteraard verschillen maar ook overeenkomsten!
Een zeer grafisch en krachtig beeld met een integrerend kader en het blauw in een intermedierende rol. Erg fijn werk en wat functioneert je Caon S1 goed - een van de stamvaders van de baan brekende generatie van superzoomns.

Perfectly combined the lamp-post with the unique architecture's details, Paul.
The red/brown bricks that was built on this magnificent Teruel, contrast well onto blue sky's, and contrast in style to the lantern.

Paul, it's almost as though you've combined two photos into one here, and the effect works nicely. You've perfectly bisected the frame, but each half is crisp with strong tones. I can get a sense of the surroundings just from these two disparate subjects. Well set up and taken.

This is wonderful shot. I could be make into two different shot. Amazing quality and depth, all those wonderful and intricate design on the building is so well presented in wonderful light, the blue sky give it wonderful contrast adn the street lamps seem to be 3 dimensional.

Wow ....! Great ... a true work of art, I love the POV to show with vivid clarity, the beautiful design of this tower brick Mozarabic've also embedded with perfection, the horizontal lines of the drawing, another highlight is the original which is half the plane occupied by the tower, while the other half is, for that fabulous blue sky, which is exquisitely trimmed the beautiful lamp.

Hi Paul,
the chromatic contrast between the intense blue of the sky and the tones of the bricks of the Mudejar tower is simply fantastic, and provides a great power at your composition.
In addition, I like the graphism of the lamppost which is outlined on the sky and is a very important element that is beautifully opposed by the magnificent architecture and adds an enormous aesthetic interest to the ensemble.

Intersting composition. It is almost if you put 2 photos together. At my vacation i did some photo's with the same effect (but ofcourse other subject ;-).
I like the wel saturated colors and de colorful details of the tower.

I am seeing a picture of this fascinating building for the first time! Delightful details & excellently balanced composition with the lamps. The designs are created by bricks...and I look back staring at the image for the long time admiring the beauty. An excellent image though I would nitpick about the halo around the lamps...one way to avoid it is to select the sky in PS & inverse the selection to do the PP on....that way you leave the sky untouched.

Hi Paul,

Very intriguing concept here, it almost appears to be a split screen photo. The colors are so vibrant and the detail is immaculate. I love the many different shapes. The two distinct subjects, both in focus, create a very strong composition and the lighting is bright and well exposed. Quite deserving of the many positive comments. Impressive.
