Tinghir

Tinghir located in south-eastern Morocco, south of the High Atlas and north of the Little Atlas, is part of the region of Ouarzazate.

The name originally referred Tinghir the mountain "IGHIR" which meant the shoulder Tamazight, but it has gradually expanded to bring together all the villages around and give this name to the whole oasis.

Natural geography

Tinghir is a huge oasis stretching about 30 km long and varies in width from a few kilometers upstream and 4 km downstream. The climate of eastern Tinghir arid subtropical regions, i.e. hot, dries winters plus costs, in relation to altitude (1430 meters). There are a few rainy days per year, the largest precipitation occurring in fall and winter.

Tinghir region is wedged between two mountain ranges, stretching over 700 km long, south-west to north-eastern Morocco: High Atlas north climax over 4167m (Adrar Toubkal). Little Atlas to the south which is the Adrar Sarhro continuity. This is called path-South Atlas, which is also the road from Ouarzazate to Imtghren. During the second era, this region has been periodically invaded by the sea, where thick deposits of sediments rich in marine fossils (ammonites are well represented). The uplift of the atlas, mainly during the Tertiary, causing the withdrawal of the sea and the deformation of the strata of rocks (folds, faults). Wind erosion and river eventually shape the desert landscape of limestone and clay. Todgha the river has widened over time these layers of rock, which gave rise to impressive canyons 300m high but only 10m wide in some places. Then the river widens and its banks to develop a green oasis (gardens, palm trees ...) edged radically with the colors red ocher of the desert stone.

Your shot captures the environment and the character of this North African location beautifully. The trees, the mud buildings, the sandstone hills take the viewer across the frame with their contrasting horizontal layers. The strong, blue sky, is perfect backcloth.

Όσο βλέπω εικόνες από το όμορφο Tinghir τόσο πιο πολύ στεναχωριέμαι !! Και αυτό διότι πέρασα από εκεί αλλά για λόγους χρόνου δεν μπόρεσα να τα επισκεφτώ!! πρέπει να είναι ενα εκπληκτκό μέρος με πολύ όμορφα χρώματα τόσο από την όαση όσο και από την αρχιτεκτονική που έχει ..πολύ όμορφη φωτογραφία...τα συγχαρητήρια μου

You're capturing well this scape by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see two mountain ranges with brown color, the colny which spreads in the foot of a mountain and oasis with greenery. It's interesting that the wall of house is same with mountain color, too.

The sweeping view from the foreground full of green to a group of the most intriguing architectures, the view even continues up to the mountain range in the background. The view contains a great depth. The stunningly blue sky possesses a very nice contrast with the green colours of the oasis. Unknown destinations like this have a most appealing and inviting ambience. The presented image makes the place very attractive. It is almost an open invitation for us all.
