Carnival of Xanthi 2015

Thracian Folk Festival – Carnival of Xanthi celebrates its 50-year anniversary and promises to offer residents and visitors of the picturesque town of Xanthi (Thrace, Northern Greece) unique moments of entertainment from February 6, 2015 to February 23, 2015.

This year festivities include several carnival and folklore happenings as well as a variety of cultural and artistic events.
The carnival peak will be the great Carnival Parade which will take place on the final Sunday of Carnival season on February 22, 2015. After the Carnival Parade the custom of the “Burning of the Tzar” - an old custom adapted to the present - will follow. The Tzar is a look alike of the Carnival King which is burnt in a big fire by the river Kosynthos situated at the entrance of Xanthi Old Town. The Carnival closing ceremony will be accompanied by many impressive fireworks.

Very lively image, you caught the soul of the carnival very nicely here, bright colors, smiling faces and so much on, all these people caught in their own moments, and not seeing the things right beside them! I dont know if I am seeing things, perhaps a shadow, but does the girl on the left talking to the man with the microphone have a beard? Very fun shot

Attractive Carnivale of Xanthi scene with the females adorned in bright red and gold hat costumes, with others in white horse costumes.

I really like this phoyo. Red always get my attention in photo and here this colors is exploding in our eyes. Nice to see all this women with the same bright red dress and the golden hat.
It looks a very happy carnival party.

what a beautiful and so colorful capture from the carnival in Greece!
Beautiful ladies dancing in colorful outfits! The only difference to carnival in Rio is that the dresses have to be warmer -even in Greece.
Fantastic density of red color and even some red smoke in the distance.

Costantino, the picture gives a glimpse of the carnival in Xanthi. The participants are very excited. They wear horse costumes, red dresses and yellow hats. The party was in full swing by afternoon. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
