Photographer's Note

The Aljafer韆 Palace is a fortified medieval Islamic palace built during the second half of the 11th century in the Taifa of Zaragoza of Al-Andalus, present day Zaragoza. It was the residence of the Banu Hud dynasty during the era of Abu Jaffar Al-Muqtadir after abolishing Banu Tujibi of Kindah dynasty. The palace reflects the splendor attained by the kingdom of the taifa of Zaragoza at the height of its grandeur. The palace currently contains the Cortes (regional parliament) of the autonomous community of Aragon.

The structure holds unique importance in that it is the only conserved testimony of a large building of Spanish Islamic architecture of the era of the Taifas (independent kingdoms).

Hello Sergio,
The title is perfectly correct, and the red car is a quite sensational addition to this view of the magnificent islamic palace. Sometimes parked cars can destroy a view, but on this rare occasion it actually enhances the beauty of the entire photo. The colours generally are excellent and the fine light and good contrasts put an emphasis on the rounded shapes of the castle. It's a very attractive photo and so is the WS.

Last April I've visited the Aljaferia Palace and I remember I was worried about the parked cars within the domain.
Nothing to be done.
Actually, this is surely the most beautiful sight of the palace. Inside, we can admire many beautiful architectural details. But for me nothing beats the view of these imposing walls and towers, nicely on a row.

Hi Sergio,
beautiful so well preserved city walls, you have captured them at a good light. The walls feels gold and contrast well with the blue sky.
The red car adds a funny aspect. You could be annoyed by its presence but you have turned it into a joke! Great idea!

Seeing miniature, I thought that the picture is from Avila. I didn't know that Zaragoza has such a beautiful big towers. Stunning view. Nice composition with this small red car. Spectacular view. I must go once more to Spain :).

Greetings Sergio,

This photo works really well because there is exactly one, and only one car in the picture. There are all sorts of narratives at work here - the old dwarfing the new - the patience required as a photographer when trying to keep the modern out of ancient subjects - compositional issues of colour. A great shot. One small suggestion - I might be tempted to crop out the more modern buildings in the extreme right of the frame, leaving the car as the only modern touch. regards and thanks, Iain

The mighty old walls scaled superbly with the red car parked in front of.
The cylindrical towers, and I believe this is only part of those - seem imposing and dominating the sight.
A fine taken picture from a fairly good distance from the main object.
