Photographer's Note
June 20th. Belgrave in the Dandenong Hills.
People from the various villages in the hills gathered in Belgrave to celebrate the Winter solstice with a lantern parade.
I went there as well, not expecting much but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. I saw many original lanterns ranging from creatures from the deep oceans to giant cockatoos and dragonflies.
It was a challenge to shoot people at low light. i did not want to use flashlight and so ends dup with most images either blurry, grainy or both.
I like this photo as it captures the children's expectations and excitement. Mind you, the adults were children all over again for this evening. Lots of laughter and smiling faces, even if it was bitterly cold.

Bonjour Klaudio,

Lovely soft tones, a lovely slice of daily life, there is always a child in us. Upto us if we want to ignore it or or explore it..the woman on the extreme left, my first thought was that a nice juxtaposition with the mannequin but turn out to be the mother, the child looks at you suspiciously.."mama...why is that man taking out picture, tugging the hand of the mother."
.
.
incidentally, arnold Schwarzenegger was at madam tussads few days back and was posing like a wax statue and people gathered around him and admired how the was model looked so lifelike..one woman said "it looks so real" Arnold turned towards her and said "I am real" and the woman screamed and freaked out but only to have a great laugh....
take care

This photo is like an 18th century painting - chiaroscuro in best Caravaggio style. The white lanterns flying in the wind add to the painterly feel and with their resemblance to jelly fish make the mood a bit surreal too.

Hello Klaudio
Well the quality of this image is excellent, despite the challenging shooting conditions. No sign of noise at this scale (I wonder if you used any noise reduction?), and it's sharp too as far as we can tell. The high ISO has helped to give you an adequately-fast shutter speed, without delivering too much noise. Smart work.

Will

Hello Klaudio,
This is veritable 17th century Dutch art, with light and colors evocative of Rembrandt's Night Watch. What a beautiful photograph, one of the best I've seen in weeks!
Warm regards,

Hi Klaudio.
There is a kind of macic to this scene: the low key composition with the dim blue and orange lights allows us to see the group of children and parents in the celebration of the solstice. A fine every-day situation well captured. The absence of flash is a smart choice; it's a completely different outcome.
Cheers and have a good day.
Frank
PS Thank you for your critiques. I'm sorry I couldn't recall the earlier ones. Apologies.

Hello Klaudio
My first thought was for the the great painting masters whose works are exposed in churches or dark museums.
The characters are subtly lit the same way and their casual postures, quite appealing, as they surround a white holiness1
Hava g'day.
