Photographer's Note

Mug韆 (en gallego y oficialmente desde 1983 Mux韆) es un municipio de Espa馻 situado en la provincia de La Coru馻, comunidad aut髇oma de Galicia. Pertenece a la comarca de Finisterre.

Faro de Punta Barca

Se encuentra en el t閞mino municipal de Muxia en la Costa de la Muerte. En el a駉 1981 la torre original fue sustituida por una nueva torre de hormig髇. Este faro fue puesto en servicio en el a駉 1898.

"A costa da morte" costa de naufragios y olas inmensas, mar de percebes, marisco y peligros. Costas con encanto, playas de arena interminables.

Su nombre se debe a la gran cantidad de naufragios ocurridos en la zona, donde se hundieron m醩 de 60 nav韔s en poco m醩 de cien a駉s, siendo el Cabo Tosto (o Punta do Boi) el punto m醩 fat韉ico.

El d韆 estaba precioso, pero el viento era muy fuerte, apenas pod韆 sujetar la c醡ara de fotos y mi equilibrio no era muy estable, a鷑 as� trat� de hacer unas cuantas fotos de este bello lugar.

Mugia (in Galician Mux韆 and officially since 1983) is a municipality of Spain in the province of La Coru馻, autonomous community of Galicia. Belongs to the region of Finistere.

Lighthouse of Punta Barca

Situated in the town of Muxia on the Coast of the Death. In 1981 the original tower was replaced by a new concrete tower. This lighthouse was put into service in 1898.

"A Costa da Morte" coast of shipwrecks and huge waves, sea barnacles, shellfish and dangers. Costs with charm, endless sandy beaches.

Its name comes from the many shipwrecks in the area, which sank over 60 ships in just over one hundred years, and Cape Tost (or Punta do Boi) the most fateful.

The day was beautiful, but the wind was very strong, could hardly hold the camera and my balance was not very stable, they still tried to get a few pictures of this beautiful place.

Hi Charo. A vivid and colorful seaside photo, very crisp and beautifully lit. The lighthouse works well as an anchor for the composition, and the dynamic of the incoming waves is well rendered with a gentle motion blur. Well done holding your 400D into the strong wind :o) The two WS are also nice, in the wide-angle one with the lighthouse I like the small puffy cloud, and the other one is a good still life of the tide breaking on the rock. Nice pack of photos, well done.

the place and especially this concrete lighthouse are by far not very romantic, but its looks very impressive and the elements look fierce: the sea, the rocks, the wind
Makes me think of some places in Brittany and it is not so surprising that Brittany and galicia are said to look quite alike
Your compo is excellent as well as the light and the various colors. Nice contrast and color saturation

Hello Charo, i can understand why they call this the coast of death! The sea looks indeed very dangerous and you catch that well at your photo. Also like the squareformat you choose.

Nous sommes tous les deux aujourd'hui au bord d'une mer dangereuse. Il y a d閖� eu des morts � l'endroit o� j'ai pris ma derni鑢e photo alors que j'閠ais en vacances dans le coin. J'aime beaucoup ta photo avec les rochers, la mer bleu fonc閑 et la tour qui s'閘鑦e dans le ciel. Excellente qualit� d'image, Bel 閏lairage et superbes couleurs.

A rather chilling title but very apt judging by your useful notes. The square format works perfectly in this splendid composition. The light is excellent and the tones and textures in the rocks beautifully rendered. The puffy little cloud is a nice bonus. Fine photographic work.

Hallo Charo,

The waves look dangerous, no wonder for your title. Love not only the colour setting, but also your framing and including some human elements for scaling and the way how you placed the lighthouse inside the frame.
Red from the rocks and the blue from the sky work also very well together....a strong image on colour and on the composition.

elle a l air bien paissible ta cote de la mort
il ne doit pas en etre de m阭e lors des mauvais conditions m閠閛 .tr鑣 bon cadrage en belle ambiance, ce coin ne me d閜lairait pas gardien de phare une profession ou un passe temps qui me conviendrait tr鑣 bien(comme je suis amateur de telecommunications), maheureusement ils sont presque tous automatique maintenant amiti閟 henri

Charo, surely is obvious why a shipwreck on this coast would be terrible but the shot is great. Th wind swept sea really makes it all the more dramatic, great capture.

En esta foto me gusta mucho la intesidad del azul del cielo y del mar. Se nota la fuerza del viento en las olas. El nombre costa de la muerte como dices esconde muchos peligros pero nos ensena tambien una grand belleza.

Muy buena foto con un precioso paisaje, la presencia del faro fuera del centro me gusta as� como las personas que van hacia el ya que nos da una dimensi髇 de escala, los colores del mar, azul fuerte y las espumas blancas de las olas hacen un magnifico contraste. Interesante ver las rocas rojizas en primer plano. Tus dos WS van muy bien con el titulo de estas fotos.

You show us an enchanting spot in all aspects with this one, Charo. The lighthouse itself is well presented within the frame. The vivid colors of azure sky and white-capped waves afford a pleasing background. The foreground stones add texture and a line to draw the eye. Una vez m醩 el Cant醔rico que tanto enriquece TE. Siempre funciona el contraste de los c醠idos tonos de las rocas con el fr韔 azul del mar y el cielo, y el faro, como elemento que rompe la monoton韆 del horizonte.

A beautiful seacape to the eye, but a harrowing experience for those that have lost their lives due the rocks and high winds of the sea.
Excellent post for capturing the image with high winds and being blown around...

Hola Charo!
Me gustan mucho los colores de tu foto! Los colores beige y rosa de las rocas y del faro, dan un buen contraste con el blu profundo del mar! Las grandes olas le dan un aspecto dramatico!
Este lugar es situado en Finisterre de Espa馻; Yo vivo en Finist鑢e de Breta馻, y tenemos lugares similares muy dramaticos y peligrosos por las rocas y las tormentas. Pero, quando es peligroso, no tenemos quasi jamas colores alegres como en tu foto, pero colores gris. Puedes ver algunas fotos en la galer靉 de Ouessant que es una de las partes m鄐 peligrosas del Atlantico...

Pues pasaba por aqu� y me dije... vamos a visitar a Charo y de paso veo alguna fotillo suya, esta del faro me gust�, su luz y color invaden toda la escena con una intensidad especial, haciendo que los contrastes sean la fuerza de este trabajo, en mi opini髇 un poquito menos de cielo para descentrar el horizonte ser韆 positivo, sin duda un lugar muy bello.
