Photographer's Note

Medenine is a small city divided by a river, "The two cities" located midway between the island of Djerba and Libya.

Its greatest interest lies in its "Ghorfas" kind of grain, the seventeenth century also served as dwellings, nomadic Berbers were built in a juxtaposed, five stories high, narrow, deep and vaulted usually 9 meters long, 2 meters high and 2.5 wide, also served to put the shelter of the looters, the grain reserves of the community.

Medenine es una peque馻 ciudad dividida por un rio, 揕as dos ciudades� que se encuentra a medio camino entre la isla de Djerba y Libia.

Su m醲imo inter閟 reside en sus 揋horfas�, especie de graneros, del siglo XVII que serv韆n tambi閚 como viviendas, de las tribus n髆adas bereberes y que se constru韆n de forma yuxtapuesta, de cinco pisos de altura, estrechas, profundas y abovedadas, normalmente 9 metros de largo , 2 de alto y 2,5 de ancho, tambi閚 serv韆n para poner al abrigo de los saqueadores, las reservas de grano de la comunidad.

a very pleasing and intersting photo showing the fascinating antique structures in a lovely composition and in well managed strong light that enhances their tones and accentuates contrasts. Bonjour Luis,
Une vue tr鑣 belle et tr鑣 int閞essante de ce que furent autrefois ces greniers � denr閑s alimentaires, aujourd'hui devenus un site touristique incontournable, comme en t閙oignent ces marchands de souvenirs qui attendent le client. L'architecture est assez spectaculaire, et toutes ces petites cellules forment un ensemble tr鑣 harmonieux. Le cadrage et la composition sont parfaits, ainsi que le contr鬺e de la lumi鑢e. Il me semble que le film Star Wars a 閠� tourn� en partie dans ce lieu.

Hola Luis,
You took this picture from a well chosen POV so we can see as much as possible of these ghorfas. It's a wonderful architecture with the many stairs to the upper floors.
The old man adds life to the picture, the carpets and other souvenirs some extra colour.
The shadows of the battlements in the lower right corner are somewhat mysterious because the roofs of the ghorfas that we can see are always rounded. Anyway these shadows fill out that corner nicely.

J'aime bien les photos de ce genre qui me rappellent de bons souvenirs, j'ai pass� par l� en 2005. La prise de vue est excellente et tu as choisi le bon moment pour avoir le personnage parfaitement plac� dans la composition. Bel 閏lairage et beau contraste de couleurs.

alguien comenta que una de las pel韈ulas de Star Wars fue rodada en un sitio como 閟te. Y desde luego que esta fascinante arquitectura tradicional me lo recuerda mucho, es posible que fuese aqu� o en otro sitio muy similar.
A pesar de sus a駉s, esta foto nos ofrece una luz espl閚dida y unos colores bien definidos, que dan una alta calidad a la imagen.
La riqueza gr醘ica aportada por las ventanas, las puertas, las escaleras, los tapices, y el hombre que camina con su bast髇, as� como la luz, las sombras y la belleza de las nubes en el cielo azul, ayudan a obtener una composici髇 muy agradable a la vista y muy atractiva.

A scene that I have never experienced but one which I find incredibly interesting. This really is living history! You have chosen a fine aspect where the houses curve to capture the interest. The single figure is strongly positioned and there is sharp detail everywhere.

Interesting place. I think I was not there, I was in something a bit similar called the village of Troglodytes, but it was in kind of caves. Amazing architecture and fantastic composition with the display of goods of the shops and the presence of the old man. Fantastic picture. Colours and sharpness are perfect.
