Golden Glow, a photo from Khulna, South

Photographer's Note

Another shot taken along the river between Dhaka and Khulna. At this point we were a couple of hours before reaching Mongla. The sun is low in the sky in the late afternoon and the golden light reflects from the fields and the water.

In this picture I used a little more post-processing than usual. I hope nobody objects. In particular I used gaussian blur in the sky to create a more hazy effect and to remove some of the lens flare created by shooting directly into the sun. I also raised the brightness and contrast of the field to bring out the detail better.

Good shot, well done.
The light of the sky creates beautiful contrasts of colours, with the green of nature and the reflections in the water.
Composition is excellent, with the boat on the right down border of the image.

Hi Jonathan. The glowing sunlight and its reflections indeed lend a golden touch to what would already have been a pleasant and well-balanced composition at any time of day. The boat is well placed in the scene, and the shoreside settin with the trees bending in the wind gives a good natural impression. Your mentioned post-work turned out well on this one.

Very nice shot at sun set (rise ?). Very nice PP work. As often, with backlight, PP is required, despite of hard TE rules. I like this shot very much.

Great shot, so very well composed and capturing a wonderful lighting. The resulted atmosphere is lovely. The boat is very well placed in there and the landscape got very attractive. I like the detail of those two trees on the right, which seem as if they were going to be out of leaves. I don't know about the too much PP. I would have to see the original one, but I like this result very much. Congratulations!

No, the pp is just fine, the result is very agreeable, of course in reality the sky should be much brighter but this is the way we want to remember it, right? Great work.

This photo is a good showcase of bangladesh, as I had always heard of it being hte netherlands of asia (due to the presence of canals and low altitude) but I hadnt sen many picutres of its coutnryside,
you have captured the geography of the place well

first i looked and your image and then i read your note about the post-processing done...it struck me that i was missing some dense air over the land and then i realized that you've probably removed it;-)...i like the composition very much...but i'd prefer to have less details to keep the misty flair here...hope you don't mind...cheers, artur

Not sure how the original version looked, but this processed version is fabulous! Excellent compo with the boat occupying the corner of the frame, lovely lighting and colours give a tranquil atmosphere and the haze has a special feel. Nice to see the detail of the wind-blown tree too.

Another golden composition, with perfect placement of the elements on the image. Like the goldem atmosphere of this image and also the wind movement we can appreciate on the palm trees on background. Nice light handling.

Wow, this is a fabulous shot, Jonathan, and I wouldn't have known that you had done a lot of PP on it unless you had mentioned it in your note (which is always a good indication that your PP efforts were successful). Great control of the light and perfect timing re the positoning of the boat. Looks like it was a very windy day there. Cheers . . . David
