Photographer's Note
This is something a little different from me. Yes, I've posted portraits before but nothing as closely cropped as this. I was tempted to post this one because of the detail and quality of the image. Even at 100% on the original shot everything is crisp and clear.
This picture was taken on a boat trip to the Sundarbans National Park. It takes a day to cruise down there and a day back so there is plenty of time for relaxing and getting to know your fellow passengers.
This is a local young lady who was along for the ride with the westerners. She is intelligent and confident and therefore more willing to allow me to take her picture than many Bangladeshi women. Girls are quite happy to pose for the camera but as they get older they usual become more shy too.
The photo is cropped from a wider original. This is posted in a workshop here. If you don't like one maybe you will like the other. I'd be interested to know which is most popular.

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for bringing the Bengal beauty to the world. I agree, excellent sharpness in the asset of this picture. I like the smart cropping and would go with your post rather than the WS version.

Hi Jonathan, A nice close up detailed shot to the girls. Thanks for the WS to let us compare the original and the tight crop version. I like the cropped version better to let us focus on her beautiful eyes and her nose decorations.

Hej Jonathan,
Indeed a very nice crop, but it works well I think. You placed her well in the composition too and it's nice to see the expression on her face. Good work!

Close-up and extremely clear. Excellent lighting on the subject's face, and the skin texture is marvellous. I won't even bother to look at the WS version, this one's fine to me. A superb, naturalistic shot in every way.

Hi Jonathan,
Indeed a diferent one from you. This is an excellent portrait, with a captivating shy smile on an attractive face. Your crop is also exellent and I prefer it to the original. Nevertheless, I apreciated very much to see the wider version with the details of the hear rings and red dress. With that original, it wouldn't cross my mind to make this crop. Very well done!
