Two monks walk through the ruins of the Bayon.

The Bayon was the last state temple to be built at Angkor - in the late 12th century or early 13th century and almost a century after Angkor Wat. There are some significant changes in style which leads archeologists to believe that the Bayon was built over a long period of time. It was the official state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII.

Monks & the stones of Angkor is quite a popular photographic subject & yet because of the variety of possibilities, the pictures never beome cliched!

I especially like how the monk on the right seems to 'emerge' from behind the pillar...their saffron robe providing a distinct contrast which is attractive

Love the POV and the DOF. The monks give color to the picture (literally), nice contrasting material to break the monotony from all the grey. Wonderful capture!
