Photographer's Note
In the past insect dishes were foods for the poor, those who are not lucky enough to eat meat, so they look for edible insects to fill their stomachs. Later, this dish is more and more popular and became the favorite dish of the inhabitants. That’s why the insect market was created. Indeed, Cambodians favorite insects are cricket, grasshopper, spider, cockroach … After washing well, they are all dipped in flour to tempura and grilled. This dish exists not only in street corners, along the sidewalk but also in luxury restaurants. Edible insects contain high quality protein, vitamins and amino acids for humans. According to a report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), they are the main future for world food security. A picture taken at Battambang central market. Hello Miguel,
Colors are vividly inviting - but knowing what this is would not appeal to everyone, a matter of taste and culture.
Nicely presented anyway.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Miguel,
Environmentalists and nutritionists tell us we will have to exchange steaks for insects in order to save the world. It will be a difficult change of habits for people in especially the western world, but I admit that these dishes look quite appetizing thanks to their colours. It's an interesting and original photo and it's nicely taken and accompanied by an informative note.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Miguel,
I think it will take me some time to adept if insects ever really become our main food source. Good photo of these differently coloured piles of food on the metal dish.

Hello Miguel For the time being I will content myself to taste as a meal starter to one of those unusual dishes that you interestingly captured and described for our knowledge. Hasta pronto.

hello Miguel, I China I also saw similar food but somehow grilled cockroaches do not appeal to me. Interesting colours but it is difficult to recognize what we see here.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hi Miguel,
very interesting upload in the times of coronavirus which was transmitted to humans from an exotic food :)
I think I would starve to death there...
Very photogenic indeed. Was it your plate in a restaurant.
I like the multitude of colors here.
Great reportage,
M
