Photographer's Note

This guy was a small shop on a market street in Sheung Wan area, Hong Kong. This was taken on my day outing with Kourosh and Maciek and one of the very many frames the three of us exposed that day. I am sure K & M also have shots of him. I loved his very traditional attire and wish I also had a shot showing his very old sewing machine with which he made his living. Hong Kong, like much of Asia is so interesting in how you will see very traditional activities taking place in the heart of a huge, ultra modern city.

Nice shot Darren. My eyes keep looking at his dress, it's probably because of the texture. good framing and focus, maybe DOF is a little bit too shallow.

hi Darren, nice shot again, you have a lot of good shots from HK, i think it was a good weekend ;) you captured a reely good moment here - he is really into his work, great compo, sharpness, DOF, good stuf
i have some shots with this guy too, there is also his sewing machine ;)

I'm not sure about this one, Darren. The crop is much too tight here, one of his arms is out of focus, I can't really see what he's doing (for all I know he may be sleeping). If you had stepped back just a wee bit to get a wider angle and thus more contex into the shot, it would have worked like magic. But now all I see is a man who appears to be asleep. I know what you can do with a camera and this is not it. You've got "mad skills" :-) so use them!

I like this photo, but I would have liked to have a faster shutter speed. For me, there is as much 'character' and interest in this persons hands and in their face... so it's a shame that they are a bit blurred (the blur looks more like it's due to movement than shallow DOF).
