Photographer's Note
Fortunately it was not all business in China and I did get to relax and enjoy the surrounding Sichuan countryside for two days.
This is Leshan home to the worlds now, (after the one in Afghanistan was destroyed) largest buddha. Tomorrow the buddha, for now a relaxed postcard scene for the weekend.

Good framing. Fantastic PoV. Even a lower PoV would have been fine. I think the image could have been a little more balanced, considering your other great works.

Hello Elaine,
I think this is fabulous. I wondered about the balance, like Sriharee, so I put it in a w/s and tried cropping it but it looks better just the way it is! Great pov and reflections.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Peaceful, well balanced, the horizon line looks tilted, but it could be an optical illusion because of the perspective. Great atmosphere.

Well, I like your framing here and the sense of rural idyll - what an amazing bridge and a very interesting place which I didn't visit - we did go to Dazu though which is a must Elaine - apart from a real horror story of accidents, delays and a carbon monoxide filled tunnel on the way back - and a bus which broke down just as we reached Chongqing - was it raining - looks like it from your pic.

This bridge and it's reflection make a great subject, but I think the shot would have worked better if you could have taken it from further to the right and maybe a bit higher up in order to have some separation between the reflection and the river bank.
It's also a bit of a shame about the tilt to the right, but that would be easily sorted out by a small rotation.
Still, I like it. It looks an interesting place.
Cheers,
Ben

Very beautiful image with such a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. I love the quality of the soft tones, the reflections in the very well textured are a pleasure to look at. Maybe a bit tilted towards the right but this is just a detial easy to fix.

The loveliness of this structure is enhanced by its rural setting. It seems still to belong to the world of history and not to the world of commercial tourism. I love those hats! Did you bring one back? I always try to collect local artifacts like that. I am awaiting the Buddha image tomorrow. Regards kevin

Great composition. Some of the aspects I like most:
- the "misty" ambience
- the three small fisherman with their white hats - Although they are such a small part of the photo they really stick out. They are really sharp and almost make the picture a "people in their environment" type
- the really interesting bridge and reflection - great architecture
- the great contrast between the bridge and geens & the white hats and greens
- the DOF and POV
...other than the composition, colors are great and along with everthing else mentioned above creates a really stunning landscape, nature or daily life photo.
Great work.

The Chinese who undoubtedly have some of the most fascinating architecture has been portrayed by you quite well. You have captured this serene image quite well, putting all the pieces together. The arched walkway with the mirrored image in the river below, the fishermen/women (fisherpeople to be politically correct I suppose) as a foreground element that really enhance the beautiful backdrop surrounding them.
I maybe would have liked to see a touch more of the gazebo structure to the right (it appears to be slightly cut off) has you stepped back a touch or hadnt chose the 40mm focus. Not sweat though, as you have a stunning shot in which you have showed us.
Kudos to you

Hello Elaine :O)))
What a fantastic peaceful atmosphere you have captured in this image. One of those landscape images that should be seen in a much bigger size. Wonderful reflections of the old bridge and the fishing people with the hats adds a lot of interest to it.
How are you - getting ready for your upcoming trip?
:) Tina

Hi Elaine,
A wonderful tranquil mood is emitted from this image. I love the mistiness and the soft reflection of the bridge. And of course the people fishing in their cool hats adds lovely life to the shot.

Hi Elain. This is a very good POV of this amazingly built bridge. It looks quite unique. The reflection helps complete the oval. Excellent work. TFS. Murray.

You got more views than Scarlet Johanson for this one, Elaine! Haha! And it's a good shot too (not your best, I'm sure you know that too) - so where do those 636831 come from? Maybe they all want to go fishing...
Congratulations.

Elaine - good record shot of an amazing piece of architecture. The overcast sky has given a green cast across the photo. The main point here is the subject. If you are only in an area for a short space of time then the weather you've got is it!

Hi Elaine,
A realyl hauntingly beautiful capture, the shape of the bridge is so unique (to my eyes anyway) and teh kind of mist hanging in the air is wonderful. I love that you have included the fisherman as well, whcih offers excellent scale.
Best wishes

Hi Elaine, this is a great image, the reflections adds a lot to it, I'm wondering how it looks like today as pollution problems have become so worrying in China...

This is really a remarkable bridge. 5 years in China and I have not seen another like it. Great daily life feel with the fishermen trying their luck in the water. You have given us a unique window view into China. The photo could have been taken yesterday or 150 years ago. I had marked it as a favorite some time ago. A gift for your special work.

Bonjour,
L'architecture du pont, le paysage un peu brumeux un peu anachronique refl鑤e si bien le myst鑢e de la Chine.
Une tr鑣 belle photo qui donne envie de voyager dans la Chine mill閚aire.
Merci

Hi Elaine,
this appeared on your profile page, and I could not resist selecting this first.
The bridge is amazing, such a unique design and even cloudy weather did not damage the effect, you managed in fact to turn it to your advantage.
Great point of view from which you made a nice use of the oval shape which continues in the reflection.
Very nice rainy day mood.
Excellent result,
M
