Photographer's Note

As the sun sets, this was the view from our balcony onto the magic Mount Kazbegi.

---

MOUNT KAZBEGI, located on the Russian-Georgian border, is one of the most spectacular mountains of the Caucasus.

The area around is a nature reserve and includes beech forests, subalpine forests and alpine meadows. Many of the plants and animals here are endemic to the Caucasus region.

This famous view includes the silhouette of the Gergeti Trinity Church, of which I posted a picture earlier. That earlier shot was from the other side, this one is looking up from down in Stepantsminda.

This one was shot on the first day of our stay there, the view was obscured by clouds for the remainder of our stay. We were told this happens quite regulary, so I guess we were lucky.
