Himalayan Boy, a photo from West Bengal, East

Photographer's Note

I took it at Sandakphu ( 12000 ft ), the highest point of West Bengal. From here you can see a pleasant sunrise and the effect of sunrise and sunset over the snow peaked Himalayan range. It is in the trek route of Manebhanjang to Phalut. The boy in picture is a porter of some other team. These mountain boys are generally very innocent and they can perform very hard labour. They possess very poor economical condition. These posters can earn only 250 rupees per day ( if consider they get job everyday, which is impossible ). Despite of their condition they don't lose their smile and enjoy the life everytime.

This is a very fine composition which you executed nicely. There is only thing I do not get, why two of the three structures in the FG are washed out??? The exposure for the rest of your shot e.g. 90% is perfect, only these 2 structures seems to have a problem. I first thought that photoshop could help, but there are not enough details to do anything. You certainly know better, what could be the reason.

As I overall like your compositions I have added you to my list of preferred photographer.

Funny picture, this Himalayan boy look like in the Gulliwer, other people and houses are so small. I immagine the portrer's work must be very hard, specially on this altitude. Interesting note.

Quite a clear and well built composition, both interesting and fine. You managed to obtain a great DOF with everything perfectly at focus, from the boy to the trees in the bg. West Bengal seems an interesting place to visit. I wonder what those white buildings at the bottom are? Military barracks?

Very well composition. The colors are great. The BG is very good with Green. I think the tents are little overexposed. However, It's a nice picture. Very well done.

Very interesting daily life shot. I had heard that some of the porters are exploited with very low wages, so I wasn't surprised by your note. You composed the image well with excellent depth so we can appreciate the buildings in the background too.

Nice shot, good composition, good depth, both the boy and landscape is nice and clear. However, it would have been nicer if the boy were in his more traditional clothes than the western jacket and sandals, and his look is not so friendly but little bit intimidating. I'm being very picky here I guess. Regardless, a good effort.

You seem to posting less now..kaajer chap naki? Nice shot of the pahari boy with the tents and houses down below. Exposure on white is a bit tricky and there's some OE there. The off-centre composition works well.
