Photographer's Note
This woman (from Karnataka) is working at the renovation of St Augustine tower conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India, in Old Goa, which was Goa's capital until 1843.
Behind her, you can see a tower from a convent and church called St John of God, built in 1685 as a hospital, the church was renovated in 1953 and is now a home for the elderly.
In the WS, you can see a wider view of St John of God .
Hope you like it...

Bonjour Marilyn,

Hi Marilyn,
I think what caught my eye the most here is how you have positioned yourself so well to catch lovely light across the womans face and creating strong shadows and contrast.Nice natural colours and good detail and clarity.

Olá Marilyn, excellent portrait and interesting architecture, not so similar to Portuguese churches...Your framing is perfect and I love the blurred façade in the background, but also the green bucket on her head. Interesting that f/8 gave you this nice shallow dof effect. Thanks for the complementar ws. Enjoy the weekend,
Ricardo

Hi Marilyn,
Well composed with good clarity of detail. You captured this in fine light, with just the right amount of blur on the tower. The expression on the woman's face is enigmatic. Very fine work, Marilyn. Amities.

including the tower well oof gives this shot depth and enhances the 'situation' of the person..
in all these shots highlights in the eyes can be beneficial..but not easy to acquire unless you use fill in flash or a reflector
a sharp cameo of life for an india girl

Bonjour, mon amie Marilyn,

Bravo!

Super strong sunlight & yet you managed to get a good portrait. You've got quite good DOF at f/8, & the squint in her eyes protecting from the sunrays is interesting. Did you ask her that she belonged to Karnataka? This lady does look more like so compared to the man you'd shown us earlier

I do envy people who can take such natural portraits. I usually mess them up, although I think I got one or two on my recent trip I might post sometime.
I like the way you composed the shot so we can see the church behind her. Although (rightly) the building is oof, it adds interest. Good work.

Hello Marilyn.
Great use of DOF here. You've blurred the background enough not to distract from your main subject, but still retained enough detail for context. I like the hard colors, very realistic. Good framing also. What does she carry in that bowl atop her head?

Bien cordialement,
Emmanuel
