Photographer's Note

There is a single opening in the wall of the tomb on each of the west, north and east sides, and these are filled with jaalis. I preferred this one to the west and facing the mosque. The design and then execution thereof shows great sensitivity and imagination. What I admire about architecture is the opportunity to unexpectedly come across individual elements which have been incorporated into the overall structure.

But then, I had to end my visit to the Dada Harir complex of vav, mosque and tomb. The driver was ready to take me and the guide the 15 kilometres or so to the north by west of Ahmadabad for a visit to the Adalaj village vav that features even more elaborate decorative attractions.
