Photographer's Note
Durga Puja is the biggest festival of West Bengal, India. At the end of the festival the idol of Durga goddess is immersed in the holy waters of Ganga. And the Pendals (temporary temple built for the worship and festival) is left out with the single Pradip (lamp lit with oil) in the place where the idol was kept.
The site of the empty Pendal with the lonely Pradit lit in the vacated place scars every Bengali heat with grief of conclusion of the year-round waited festival but also lights up the hope for the countdown of the days for the next year’s festival.
Asche Bochor Abar Hobe….(people’s slogan of hope for recurrence of same or rather much more festive joy in the next tear)…
