Photographer's Note

The Golden Rock at Kyaiktiyo, Myanmar, is a holy and important site which Buddhists frequent in large numbers. A gold leaf covered boulder precariously balances on the edge of a cliff, and pilgrims come to worship this astonishing defiance of gravity. It is said that a single Buddha hair exists under the rock.

An amazing photograph here...just a stunning shot of The Golden Rock, and it's all the more wonderful in that you have the Buddhist monk near the edge in highlighted it seems by a touch of sun. Really very nicely done.

The note is very interesting. I had no idea about this place but I think this is a very interesting place. Also I like your composition and the place is so amazing.
Anyway the light was difficult and the sky looks too flat, but the whole photo is very interesting.

Hi David,
Absolutely a stunning monument and it is a perfect tiem of day when the light is soft. The people worshiping the rock add the value of daily life in the area, most are the local people and not tourist, so people in the image is perfect.
