Jharkot and Muktinath on the distance, a photo from Dhawalagiri, West

Photographer's Note

Back to my 'travelogue' of Nepal, this is further up the path of the last post. The village of Kagbeni, seen on the distance on that post is now behind and in front are Jharkot (on the lower left), Muktinath [te, wikipedia] (behind it at some distance) and Thorong La pass, the highest point (5416 meters / 17769 ft) on the Annapurna Circuit (somewhere in the biggest V drawn by the BG mountains).

The POV of this one is somewhere on the upper right of the last post, invisible because it is on the other face of the mountain and maybe out of the image. It is also approximately symmetric of my first TE post.

Location (latitude, longitude): 28.8285,83.809 (I am not sure about the accuracy, but my guess is that the error isn't higher than 1.5 Km / 1 mile)

Note on the location in TE: according to Wikipedia, all this region, from Jomsom to Lo Manthang and Muktinath is part of Dhawalagiri district [te]. I put my posts in the Gandaki district following the others, as almost no one posts their photos of the region in the supposedly right place.

Observo detenidamente esta toma, y solo puedo decir cuan peque駉s somos como humanos en el mundo.

You have done an excellent job on the scan. It is a beautiful mountainscape in good light. The track is perfect for leading the eye. The light is good, providing some wonderful contrasts in the rocks of the mountains. I love how they really do meet the sky, piercing the clouds symbolically. Well done

Hi Jose,
An impressive landscape in great colours, contrast and saturation. It feels like film and it looks like film. sharpness is extreme along the edges, but i have no problems with that. The OM4 was a great tool and with Zuiko glass it gave you crisp and bright images.
A landscape that i like, just as your pov in creating it...very good.

clear and sharp scan therefore I assume the same about the original capture itself. The diagonal lines in earth tones before the blue peaks look gorgeous. But the small village is really telling us what amount of space you have captured here, very impressive.

Jose,
a wild mountain landscape, very much as I like it. The image reminds me so much of my travel up to the pass to reach the border between Nepal and Tibet. Lovely detail of the little town on nestled between the "V" of the two big mountains at each side of the shot. The bending road from the right corner into the image is a good leading line. I just wish you had already a digital back in 1994 ;-)

I'm very impressed by mountains in general...But Nepalese mountain are beyond comparison. They're not huge, they're colossal, they inspire respect.
Your picture is so sharp!! It gives extreme details everywhere throughout the picture.

belle photo de ce centier qui semble descendre au village, belle couleurs et bonne nettet�.
A l' arri鑢e plan la luminosit� parfaite fait bien ressortir la beaut� des roches de ces montagnes, la neige et ces nuages superbes qui ont tendance a vouloir englober les sommets.

Bom dia Jos�, n鉶 foi dif韈il selecionar esta da tua 1� p醙ina de miniaturas. As montanhas s鉶 a minha paisagem preferida e os Himalaias s鉶 especiais no planeta. Este caminho a levar-nos por a� fora faz a foto dando-nos uma bela sensa玢o de profundidade. Passamos 1� este planalto fofo amarelado, depois o casario l� � frente e s� ent鉶 � que nos podemos embrenhar por entre os picos escarpados - as minhas pernas est鉶 prontas para arrancar!

Magnifique vue de montagne au N閜al! J'aime beaucoup le contraste entre le bleu argent� de l'arri鑢e-plan et le brun d閟ertique du 1er plan. Quel bonheur ce doit 阾re d'explorer ces contr閑s divines! Cela donne l'impression de quitter la terre pour quelquepart "au-del�".
S'agit-il d'un scan? En tous cas, la qualit� est excellente.
